I figured I'd post this, whether they do anything about it or not. I've gone over something's I'd like to see fixed to help the over all line. Certain things that made people pass on buying from Sideshow. People could add things here if they want. I can only go on the Jedi, since that's pretty much all we've gotten.

The Jedi Under shirt; it's way too baggy. It should be tighter in the sleeves (look at Plo Koon's) and chest area, proably should stick another button on the collar to give it the appearence it does in the film. Too much wasted space for no reason. Look at what Dave from RS does to his figures.

The Jedi Tunic; I think these have been turning out well. I'd like to see the opening of the sleeves a little wider, and see the length of the tunic itself shortened. It's been longer than the tabbard which isn't right. Which leads me to the...

The Jedi tabbard; make them longer. Also wider in some cases. Look what happened to Qui-Gon, in the movie, his tabbard is very wide, yet the figure has the most narrow out of them all (narrower than Mace's). Also, in the movies some (or maybe it was just Obi-Wan) cross over each other in the back then attach.

Belts I've heard are being looked at so they're more stable.

Jedi Pants; Should also be tighter to the body. They're fine at the ankles, but get way too wide towards the hip/thigh area. I had to use clear rubber bands on Obi-Wan (now looks much better in overall appearence).

Han's jacket, Luke's jumpsuit; since the arms are long on all the figures the sleeves should be a little longer, too. Helps hide the hideous wrist joint.

Big-Head syndrome should be addressed, the tailoring and hemming should be worked on. Also, areas on figures where something else may have worked better (Asajj's collar being fabric and part of the outfit, her belt/holster being faux leather, Qui-Gon's locks). Doing this should help the overall appearance of the figures, especially after taking it out of the box and bring more people in. The Jedi have been a mess, looking all over the place. And thanks to Dave's 'Laundry Day'
, don't have to stay that way, but people shouldn't have to do that to make these figures look good. Look at the way Medicom's outfit's turn out, hear anyone having to pour water on their figures, or having to use tape and rubberbands to hold things in place? They may cost a lot, but there's a reason why so many buy them; quality.

We've already been over the horrible Art Buck body.:monkey1

END.

Yes sir. If Sideshow did all that, I fully feel they'd lead the 1/6th scale market. No, I don't think they currently do, but I'm not saying they suck, and I'm not saying they're neck and neck with others, but they can be the best if they push a little harder. Higher expectations get higher quality products.

If those improvements could be made to the clothing along with a better base body then Sideshow could well make the best 1/6 figures out there and I'd probably start buying them again but unless those changes happen they will remain some way behind the likes of Medicom,Hot Toys and others.

Yeah, and you guys should hire that dave guy from Rebelscum to help with the costume designs.... And you should get him to shoot all your pictures.

:D :D :D :D :D

I agree! That dude is awesome, he's the best freakin' photographer ever! He should seriously get a job as Sideshow's main photo stud...........

I mean, uh, hey Dave! Good to see ya!

These figures have been fine. Some minor changes but what you're asking for IMO is probably a bit too much. SS hands down leads the 1/6th scale market and nobody is within sniffing different. Medicom can't make a human look like the actor to save their ***** oh and I think they use midget bodies :lol . Hot Toys and the rest tend to look about as cheap as the figures I see at the Dollar Store. IMO SS figures are a steal at what we're paying!!

I think we all agree though that if SSC used a Medi style body (though keeping the SSC scale) they'd be untouchable. No one beats their sculpts.

i tend to disagree, the style of medicom is more artist invisioned, and hot toys i think are pretty awesome with some hit or miss, i think sideshow improvements are greatly needed to put them up in the ranks, sculpt quality yes they are hands down the best in almost any case, but in overall quality a sculpt can not cary the entire toy. in my opinion

Not to be a jerk to medicoms fans, but show me one figure that they made that looks like a human character and not an ''artistic interpretation'' (yeah right!!!) of the character...

Yep - I agree the base figure may be good on Medicom but I don't like any headsculpt I've seen from them. And the price point difference is quite substantial - which people don't seem to factor in when comparing SSC vs Medicom, SSC vs Hasbro etc....... For the price I can't justify Medicom. Some of their armoured figures are pretty nice though :)

yea i know exactly what you mean, medicom dont realy do the realism sculpts, they are more artist interpertations, and i actualy like that at times, but other times i dont i love the realism of sideshow they are hands down the best of all companies. lol i dont think anyone can show many realistic medicom sculpts i think thats what brings people to sideshow the most.

What's the problem? 1/6 quality.

I have to agree with Josh (jlmscu). You get what you pay for, and if you can't agree that Sideshow have the best 'quality' for price, I tend to think you don't know what you're talking about.

I see the merit in increasing the sleeve lengths. A simple, across the board, improvement. As far as the rest of the costuming, I have been happy with what Sideshow produces. A nip and a tuck here and there may make all the difference in being able to dress a 1/6 figure, whose articulation has not yet been able to mimic a humans flexibility, dependant on many variables, or to undress a figure.

The bodies are of a high standard. If you want or think a Medicom or Hot Toys body is better, there's nothing stopping anyone from buying one. Should you have to? Yes you should. Sideshow are producing a 'quality' item, keeping people informed of their edition size, announcing low quantities, and generally catering for collectors in so many more ways than Hot Toys, Medicom, Dragon, Enterbay or any other nameable company making 1/6th items, all for a "reasonable" price, not the extreme prices others charge for a figure that has a slight resemblance, to avoid licensing issues, or even accomodate them. Sideshow started with a body of their own, and have to utilise their tooling to keep prices low. That they have incorporated many styles, such as the 'big boy', which is more than what some others have done, means they are constantly dealing with improving their product.

There are such things as time constraints. How long to spend on a sculpt, costume, researching, etc. Sure everything can be improved, but only at a cost. Maybe it is time for Sideshow to hike up the price to, say, double what they do now, and give us warranted reason to vocalise our criticisms.

Sideshow are more than aware of the opposition. They also know the business they are in. They are also aware of where they excel and where they don't. They have to stay in business, and while we can play the spoilt ones, the bulk of the consumers aren't so avidly freakish as we on the board. I'm done, okay next.

I'd hardly call SS figures a steal. The Art S Buck bodies are just riddiculous and excuse my lack for better words but I feel this describes everything straight to the point..."a piece of ****".

Whoever wrote it in stone that Medicom's style or vision of their figures were supposed to be exact human likeness? The whole flow of their entire line has been comic based or artistic interpretation based. That doesnt mean they can't do it, perhaps they choose not to. Cut the ignorant comments because there are alot of the same **** to be said about Sideshow.

Really? They are the best stuff on the market and priced way under what the other companies charge. How is that not a steal? Think the bodies are ****? Fine! Maybe you should find a board for whatever figures you consider have better bodies.

Well, when you're going to make figures based on movie characters you might want them to look like the actors or close to as possible. Not some weird Asian cousin of the sculptor. Well, they won't get more of my money till they can show they can do realistic sculpts and make them look good. Well, maybe you should follow your own words their Nash.
