Hey guys. I wanted to just take a second to make it clear what I'm talking about when I say the neck is too short on the Battle Droid. I have a couple other issues here I'll show while I'm at it. Just to be clear, in no way do I feel this is a bad figure, and I'm not just being a negative nitpicker, I think this is a great figure and I'll be picking it up without hesitation as soon as I can afford it. I only wanted to share with you guys the issues I see.
I've quickly just drew some arrows to help you see what I'm blabbering about.
1)
In these pics you can clearly see how high the back of the droid's head hangs above the top of the backpack. It sits this high even while the neck is slanted back (
which is the standard for the droid) not just while the neck it straight up.
2)
There is a piston missing on the underside of the droid's head. I'm not sure why Sideshow didn't add this, it would have been quite easy and hell, even the Hasbro 1/6 has it.
3)
On the droid's midsection, or stomach/spine area, there is actually a large rectangular hole that is present in both the CGI and lifesize model versions. It's difficult to see, but it is there, and I've tried to point it out in the pics.
This is from the lifesize model that ILM built.
This is the Gentle Giant bust. It has the accurate neck length as well as the piston, but it does not have the hole in the midsection.
So yeah, I hope that helps make it clear about the neck. Like I said, I still think this is an awesome figure and I'll be buying it, so I'm not just being negative. I don't think must of us could get too bend out of shape about these issues, certainly not like the pages and pages of arguing about the details of the trooper helmets. Fans aren't as passionate about the poor old Battle Droids lol
