Caved and ordered these, they just look too cool to pass up. After reading about all the breakages, I'm going to be terrified to take them out of the damn box!

You won't be sorry. And really, the only people who broke theirs where the guys who had them in-hand first. I think the rest of us learned how to handle them from their mistakes.
Also, thanks to the dude who updated me with the non HT help with these.
the best thing we can do now is let sideshow know how much we appreciate these figures either thru email or reviews on their site.
im sure they would hear more whining than positive feedback??

I have faith in Sideshow in making the Droideka, but it's the shield that troubles me. I mean a 1/6 shield for the droideka would be as big a small TV.
Good lord! As if a droideka itself wouldn't be a shelf-hog, I can't even imagine trying to include the shield...!
The destroyer droid would be a beauty to behold and a feat of 1/6 engineering, but I'm not sure they have enough presence in the movies to make it worth the R & D for SSC? That, and they don't lend themselves well to repaint/variants to help defray the costs of development, which would necessitate a higher price point for these to make a profit.

That's funny how the symbols are all the same, but a different combo. Even more interesting is the wear seems different overall, bu t you haev the exact same drip coming off of the vent in the middle of both packs.
It would be interesting to know how the wear and letters were randomized (or at least given the appearance of being random) at the factory level.
