Makes you wonder if they sculpted the head from memory and not still photos. :monkey5

I don't know how you can miss those things if you have reference. The same about their Phase 2 Clone Trooper helmet (which they DID get right for all the other formats and 1/6 Cody).

I'm guessing they cheaped out and just gave IG-88 the CW IG-86 head since those are probably on the way too. Then people can buy multiple IG-86's plus one IG-88 and only have one inaccurate figure. Which is a shame because I too am leaning toward passing all together because of it.

Once you see how off the head is you can't unsee it. :(

Well I took the plunge and pre-ordered Boba Fett. The medicom one is pretty top notch but on some places I could see the sideshow Fett could have it beat hands down without a comparison.

  • The stand is a good starter with the old standard stand you get with the medicom the sideshow stand is far superior
  • The weapons are normally not very good from medicom and sideshow has consistently proven itself a weaponsmith. Case in point E11 blaster ( work of art)
  • A larger presence. Be interesting to compare the sizes between the two figures. (Does not normally bother me as i have plenty other figures in the medicom scale for Boba to hang out with)
Now at double the price for the sideshow one that I paid for the medicom one. It those little extras listed above that swung it for me. Now if you can get a medicom one at half the price of the Sideshow one then I would buy it as its still a top notch figure. No doubt they will be a run on ebay for them soon. :D

After getting a sandtrooper i'm worried that boba might be unbalanced by the jetpack, i'm sure it will be ok but even with a tight body the ankles on my sandtrooper give in after a few hours :horror I hope its all ok!

Given Rex is fine with his jetpack on, and Boba won't even be on the same body as the armored figures, there's a 99% chance that won't be an issue. :lol

I'm not either and I'm no IG-88 expert but it was obvious the head's too squat. Add that to the silly asking price and it's :cuckoo:.

Head didn't look too squat in person so it wasn't obvious. As far as the price if I was a fan with how detailed it looked in person I would plunk the money down for it. So different strokes for different folks I guess.

That's kinda oxymoronic though. If you're a big enough IG-88 fan to drop $175 right there on the spot, you'd definitely notice the head issue, wouldn't you think? I mean it's not something small, the head's missing an entire ring. :huh :lol

No, I talked to multiple people about that piece during comic-con and nobody mentioned it at all. Now, I'm not sure how big a fan some of these freaks were of the character not regular folks but nobody here said anything it doesn't look like until just recently. So it goes two months without anything means not many noticed, and if they did they weren't bothered enough to say anything.

Maybe. But Pix seldom notices stuff like that and he noticed it in the SDCC pics. :lol

People have been talking about the inaccuracies in the head since day one. I don't think it was boiled down to a single missing ring until just recently.

Then he's the only one in two months until just the other day that did. :lol

Look again at the date on the post I quoted:
One thing that is still a bit confusing about this fig - has anyone come up with a reason why the head is so different from the ESB character? It is so radically different, it's obviously intentional:

This is Hasbro 12" fig, movie prop, and SSC (c/u still from video)

It must be based on some other version of IG - CW? EU? Can anyone identify it?

Is August "just the other day" in MO? :dunno :lol

Really? Guess, I didn't notice some of them. I'll blame being in San Diego on that. :lol

No, but you have to click on the post to see the date. :lol

Did they have him lit up at any point at SDCC? The impression I'm getting is that he wasn't finished and they just threw him together for the pre-order. I realize that's a huge assumption, but the fact that we've seen no light-up feature, and that the head looks like it's not fully assembled (even the parts that are present), the chance that a piece got missed doesn't seem like much of a stretch.

No, I don't recall him being lit up at all. I'm not sure on how put together he was to be honest. I know Grievous was basically a statue to show how he was going to look not 110% sure on IG-88. Whats strange is the original video showing him has the missing part. Could be a missing part or could be LFL getting their hands on something else to mess it up.

Doesn't matter. It's still clearly inaccurate to the source material.

If they fixed it to make it more accurate, would you not like that? I can guess you wouldn't care either way.

So why are you defending Sideshow against people who want a $175 toy to be a bit more accurate than Hasbro's 12" figure? Even Hasbro's 3 3/4" version...

It's a win-win for you.

I was just looking at pics of IG-86's and that one piece does appear to be the difference between the two. I'm not sure how that would figure though. This is not an IG-86 droid.
