Agree with both of you... I think its a fun scene and one I've always loved.

As I grew up I came to the conclusion that it was a weak and trivial death for such a unique character but as a kid I always thought it was kind of disturbing how he screamed and got swallowed up.

Like he was just stunned from hitting the barge and came to his senses and realized where he was a split second too late. And that split second led to a life of agony inside the Sarlacc.

I like Boba Fett... but I've never had the super love for him that has developed for many fans over the years. He's a cool character and had a fun, if somewhat embarassing death.

Yes but the Sarlac found him somewhat indigestable .....

One thing that always bothered me was what C-3PO said:
"In his belly you will find a new definition of pain and suffering as you are slowly digested over a thousand years."

I guess they wanted it to sound really bad. :lol

I think after 3PO said that everyone should have started laughing and said, "People would die after a few days of starvation/thirst. Why didn't you just say they'll find a new definition of pain and suffering over a jillion bajillion years!" :lol

I always assumed that the Sarlacc was able to keep people alive as they were slowly digested. Sort of like they would become fused with him and kept alive (but in horrible pain for 1,000 years) like the pirates on Davy Jone's ship.

Now, how would they know this or be able to prove it is beyond me. But at least he didn't have a weird d!ck mouth sticking out of him in 1983 :lecture

I wasn't really taking you serious :duff

But I've never read any of the EU stuff and as a kid that is how I rationalized that odd statement.

Hmmm. Never thought of it that way. That could actually work.

I've seen people mention it before. I did flip through one of those "visual dictionaries" once and it showed an interior cut-away of the the full Sarlacc and it showed a bunch of people gruesomely "cocooned" to the interior lining of its stomach, kind of like people in the Aliens movies.

The Sarlacc fuses with the victims and does some sort of weird fluid exchange that sustains it and painfully keeps its victims alive, plus it absorbs their memories or minds and other crazy things. All EU of course but nice morbid food for thought when watching the movie. :)

I always took it to mean that the Sarlacc's victims were dead, but preserved and were slowly used for nutrients as needed.

I could see reading it that way, but suffering for 1,000 years sure sounds worse than your body just being absorbed slowly after you died.

Personally... you'd think the heroes of the film would have felt a bit bad about that :huh At least focus on head shots and definite kills before dropping people in :lol

Well all the guys on the skiffs presumably sent many others to their deaths in the Sarlacc so they probably got what they deserved. Not the poor cook who opened that panel to see what was going on as Luke flew across and landed on side of the Sail Barge though. :lol

Then there's always Robot Chicken's take. :lol
