But, you know, is there any point? I just don't see why SSC are still making 1/6 figures when other companies - ALL other companies except Medicom - do it better.

I'll tell you why. Because Sideshow will sell out of these. That means there's a market. A market willing to pay what they're asking. They know this even if you don't. ;)

Give me a call when Hot Toys again starts making figures with head sculpts that actually look like the actors portraying the characters. Seems like they completely shelved that concept.

Everthing can always be "better," but at least with the recent Sideshow products one gets to have a figure on their shelf that looks like the character, not some random person wearing the same clothes as the character. Thank goodness for those HT Stormtroopers and their furred Chewbacca, otherwise they probably wouldn't see a dime from me this year.

Pleasantly surprised. I will still wait for Hot Toys for my Luke, but doesn't look too bad.

Thanks for asking me in a nice way! Last human figure I liked was Bespin Luke (I only got it recently). I love this outfit, so I want it to work.

I just don't see much of Luke in this one, but maybe more good in hand pics will say different.

I think we're deep into "eye of the beholder" territory here.

When I look at this -

HT%20Luke-XL.png

I see more Mark Hamill on the left. Less detailed, perhaps more simplistic or "toyish" On the right I see a heavily detailed head that I know because of a few attributes. But maybe even over-detailed. The paint is more realistic, but looks almost feverish...and too shiny. And I don't think the eyes look more or less realistic on either one.

Pretty awesome that we have these options. :)

Looking good so far. I am liking the sculpt in these new pics. Cool video review as well. Really let's you know what you are getting and how everything works. Nice touch. The hair seems to be the right shape and a bit better than the hot toys in that respect but it just seems a bit hasbro as far as the detail. It will most likely look much better in hand as does the Hot Toys. It looks nothing like that pic on the right in person. Maybe a hair swap is in order. Dunno :)

Thom...dudes a troll. Best to ignore it.

I thought it was interesting that they made such a point to mention proto vs production. Can't say I disagree on the hatted sculpt. Really pleased with that one.

This figure looks damn good to me. A lot better than Han if you ask me so I'm likely to keep this one. I wish we had seen the exclusive head sculpt but the two shown look nice. Not sure if I agree that they look better than the Hot Toys version but nice none the less. I feel more confident about the Red 5 Luke now and hopefully the upcoming Temple of Doom Indiana Jones.

Sorry guys they are nice figures but I think they missed the mark on both Luke and Han They're great as Hasbro figures but not " high end Collectibles "

I can agree with that. The sculpts still need work but I'm pleased with Luke based off of that review. I'm keeping my order for this one.

Perhaps that's why this "improved review" was quickly made available for Luke Hoth.... because the previous pics and Joey Paur review certainly did no favors for Han and probably added to the wave of cancellations.

I'm sure you will be able to futz a very fine figure out of this Hoth Luke, but I'm still scratching my head on the tailoring that is just not as evolved as the price. Those pants could be from 2006 in terms of cut and pattern. Makes the hip and slender legs look scrawny when it bunches up oddly in action poses.

Definitely looks slim in the pants for a winter getup.
What's a little lame about a review like this one (even though this one was actually pretty good), is that they don't bother to do comparisons with previous Sideshow Lukes or HT Luke even though it looks like they have those figures in their case in the background. It would elevate it from what mostly comes across as a thorough product pitch.

It's strange, because even though it's the exact same sculpt, the hatted head looks MUCH better and more accurate to me than the hatless head.

Still though, looking at the figure as a whole I think it works really damn well, and is much cooler looking than I was expecting.

Now we just need to get these guys to do a proper review of Hoth Han...
