I think Kenobi is good as is. Han needs a slight tweak as does his friend.

Luke looks pretty good with the exception of the too open eyes; I guess that is just the collecting cross we have to bear until Sideshow get's the thumb out of their ass and goes back to a solid head.

I think Obi Wan is pretty good now. Good enough anyway. Han... boy oh boy, they'd better not release that. But I seriously doubt they will, why else would Ham and Bionic Bigfoot have swapped places with the Stormies?

Trouble is, they didn't release the final promo pics or open preorders till Obi-Wan was looking better. The fact that Han was still looking the same in the promo pics tells me that's what we're getting.

Perhaps that's why this "improved review" was quickly made available for Luke Hoth.... because the previous pics and Joey Paur review certainly did no favors for Han and probably added to the wave of cancellations.

I'm sure you will be able to futz a very fine figure out of this Hoth Luke, but I'm still scratching my head on the tailoring that is just not as evolved as the price. Those pants could be from 2006 in terms of cut and pattern. Makes the hip and slender legs look scrawny when it bunches up oddly in action poses.

And why is there not one video close up of the head? Just lit still images? I'm a little suspicious of this SSC sponsored review I must say.
If it's accurate then they have managed QC on the eyes that they haven't on previous figures. Personally I don't like the look of the sculpt at all regardless, looks like a cabbage patch version of Hamill to me. The likeness is there certainly but in a very weird way. But I'm sure like Han futzed properly you can make it look great.

Great review. I was expecting another shill review but this is a lot more measured.

That side by side comparison of the sculpt and Hamill really underlines the problem... you look at every feature on the real thing and looking across you can find it on the sculpt, it should be perfect yet somehow it just doesn't capture it for me. They just haven't caught the soul of the character. There's something doughy about it - like Rory said, its a cabbage patch version of the character. Needs to be a little bit more defined, and maybe the eyes need to be narrower (is this a result of using separate eyes?).

The Ford side by side comparison with the hatless head actually makes that head look quite good, it's just those damn eyes that spoil it.

They both look decent in those pics, that's the kind of people Sideshow needs to send their early release products to.

Maybe I'm just too easy to please. The SSC R2D2 you hated (enough to instantly resell it) I thought was pretty damn great as an on-the-shelf representation of the character - QC and finicky issues aside (and the fact it's 10% too small.) All those hatches and arms and stuff were definitely a bad decision, but I have an awesome R2-with-lights on the shelf.

No, no, the problems are entirely mine...

I hope the in hand shelf pics change my mind on it.

I would have gone with "happy meal toy" version personally. And the rest of the figure - cheap, flimsy pile of badly constructed plastic bits.:lol

Frankly, commenters like you and Rorywan are what Sideshow needs to hear more of. Han Hoth has been a careening train ready to derail for the past week or two (hoping we're sort of back on the rails again) and at the new pricepoints, Sideshow really can't do that. If you're going to be cocky enough to charge $200+ for a figure, you had better nail every category, headsculpt being at the top of that list.

I've been saying this for months, but Sideshow is at least three years behind in terms of catching up to other major 1/6 manufacturers. We SHOULD NOT be seeing icons like Han Solo and Luke Skywalker as "transition figures" in terms of SSC improving their headsculpts from their late 2000's abominations up to something on-par with HT. These "experiments" like Drake should have been done years ago... when the prices were in the low $100 range. That train derailing might just be their 1/6 licence if they are not careful.

Why on earth has everyone those figures in hand but us?!?!? Totally confused about the releases in the last time...

My god why are eyes so bad on both figures. Who made them have good eyes? They need to wear glasses.

The reviewer mentioned the missing scar.

I don't recall whether the scar was covered with makeup in the film prior to the Wampa attack (which, of course, explained the presence of Marks' scar).

The thing that stands out now is the rank badge, as the reviewer pointed out. It's also visible in Da Bomb Show's video.

It doesn't fit into the 'pocket':

Whereas it did on the proto:

Either the pocket's too small, or the badge is too big. Maybe it can be cut down to size.
This has been bothering me too, mostly because it looks like HASBRO did it. Seeing how funky it looks, I wouldn't have minded if the whole thing was sculpted and just glued on, rather than making the frame out of fabric for the sake of 'realism'. When I have it in hand, if it looks bad enough I might just remove it and blend a matching color of baking clay and sculpt the whole frame around the badge so it fits perfectly. it's such a small thing, that I think I could fool the eye and make it look like scale fabric, stitching and all.
