Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

This just slipped to Feb-March… R2 suffered the same fate. Chinese New Year is in February, so if these don't ship in January from China, it's definitely March and not February.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

While the quick glance of this in the Budget Stark video was good to see, I can't wait until this starts appearing in some "in-hand" shots. Don't want to freak out over the appearance of it in the video, but the neck seam and the "way off from the prototype quality" detailing is really jarring. Hope it's just the harsh lighting.... :)

Well....here's hoping the little droid is already in the harbor just stuck on the boat along with some of the other eagerly awaited stuff....

At this rate we'll be overwhelmed with releases in a six month period. unless Sideshow postpone their Scout, Bike, 3PO, Pilot Luke and HT also misses the deadline on their Star Wars figures, we're in for quite a ride funding our hobby under such short notice.

Don't worry this usually the case more than not...:)

That's the thing, if you don't have cash and you carry one of two items on credit, carry 4 of 5 is probably not an option and I foresee many people cancelling certain items

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

They should have made two different Taun Taun statues with no swap-out head and the collector could choose which version they wanted.

100% agree. I have 2 Tauntauns for myself ordered to display with Han and Luke. 2 complete different sculpts with different leg-positions and no seams anywhere would have been the perfect thing for me.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Well I just got an email from SSC saying that because of Dock worker Union slow work strike our Taun Taun's may be delayed even further, see below.

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for pre-ordering the Tauntaun Deluxe 1:6 Scale Figure with us.

I’m writing today about an issue that Sideshow has encountered that will delay the delivery of your item. Sideshow receives all of our items from China via containers shipped into the Port of Long Beach. These containers are then trucked to Sideshow’s warehouse where they are shipped out to our collectors. Unfortunately, the Port of Long Beach is experiencing serious delays due to a work slowdown caused by dock workers looking to influence contract negotiations.

Currently your item is still on its way to us. However, we want to make sure that we take a moment to inform you of the situation at the Port of Long Beach and that it may impact the arrival of your item. We hope to receive containers into our warehouse at a more frequent rate; however, these delays have been widespread and have impacted many other companies aside from us.

We appreciate your patience as we wait for the port to expedite container movement and make deliveries. We will continue to keep you updated with the latest information about your item.

Best regards,

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Seems like everything that was scheduled for a Q1 release is going to be affected. Anything slated for Jan, Feb and even March will get pushed back. Even if the strike ends tomorrow, you have to think there is going to be a major back up from all the inactivity in the past month. It's also not just Sideshow landing in LA ports, it's thousands of other importers.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Yeah the USA article said 7 ships were waiting offshore to come in and unload but that was Nov/Dec and loaded with Christmas goods. I couldn't find any info on what the current status is but it must not be much better...Meaning Delays.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

oh boy... guess then more march then february ...

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Copy/paste Tauntaun with Wonder Woman PF and you have the word-for-word email I received earlier today.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Got an email that my Rex II will be in the warehouse within 7 days. That's about a week late but he is arriving. SS will get product, it's just going to be random I guess? What's interesting is do they have a container with all their product in it or is their product scattered in other containers with other companies product? If Rex II is the only one moving then it's the latter I would guess.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Why won't they just get to work and stop complaining!?

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Yeah, leave all that complaining to the people that cancelled due to unsightly/disgusting/fail seams.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

:mwaha:mwaha Hehe, I see what you did there!

got the same message for bomb squad, igor, taun taun and R2. Rex in 7d though

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

I'd like to order one of these but at close to $400 its so damn expensive. Still if the Hoth Luke and Han figures turn out well I may be tempted to get at least one.

Don't worry, I'm pretty sure this thing is going to be on sale with double rewards in the future.

That is precisely what I haven't ordered this. I'm tired of paying for these pieces (Dewback, Yoda's Hutt, etc) and then seeing them drop to the point where I could have purchased two for the price I paid for one.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Those are valid points. The only thing I worry about is if Sideshow does less of these so they don't end up sitting on a bunch of stock that they have to mark down heavily to sell. Also I think some people are putting too much stock in the idea that heavy discounts on figures will happen again just because Spooktacular and Black Friday 2014 were good to us. A lot of what actually went on sale was slow moving items that Sideshow probably wanted to clear out.
