Not sure if the shipping will raise, but AlterEgo has it for $26.84 to me. I do know that UPS has changed their shipping prices so Im sure it will go up once the boxes are in hand.

so they updated now pictures on their website.. and surprise surprise.. seam is now showing.... I have mine next week so will see

Odd that like the Dewback, this is cheaper to ship to me here in Canada than it is to an hour away in the US. WTF.

Some quick shots of my new Taun Taun and WOW it's big. My apologies to SSC for complaining about the shipping cost. I really enjoy opening up these big items like Yoda's Hut and Jabba with Throne and now Taun Taun and soon Biker Scout and Bike :yess:

The original photos from SDCC showed the seam clear as day. Unfortunately the pre-order photos did not. I might have canceled if it was just the NRD I had to worry about, but I started flex pay on this so I'm in way too deep at this point and would probably lose too much money.
I'm happy to check it out in hand, though. In a lot of the photos the seam doesn't bother me, so hopefully it won't be that bad in person under the dim lighting that I usually have.

You know as nice as this looks, I can't help but think Sideshow tried too hard to turn this into a realistic animal with their sculpt, when it needed to be a bit more... "puppety" instead.

I know they were basing it more off the full-sized prop, but even that still had more of a puppety look to it I think.

Looks kick ass. Hoping to get one a bit cheaper with some rewards points later in the year.

Yeah, while it's goofy in many ways, I think the Hasbro Taun somehow captures the puppet look of the creature a bit better. Maybe it's because I can't afford the SSC one - both in $$ and space.:(:lol

Yeah I might be the only one, but I actually think it'd be cooler to have a 1/6 statue of that miniature Tauntaun than the full-sized one. It not only has a much cooler head design but a better overall look.

And plus it's the only one we got a good and complete view of in the movie, so in my mind that's what the creature was really supposed to look like.

I wonder why they didn't choose to have the seam located where the saddle starts in the front? They could have had 2 different arm poses that way. So basically you'd have one mold for the back end and 2 completely different torsos.

Well, at least the latest SSC pictures show the thing as it probably looks right out of the box...no PS snow or seam-erasing. I can appreciate that...nothing like the chance to make an informed choice....

That seam looks bad.

It would have been nice if that joint had been handled a little differently, but there it is,

Then you get shots like B1ueLeader provides here where it looks pretty doggone good in the stark light.

...and I'm convinced enough to take the plunge...but only after I see what luck of the draw I get for Hoth Han. If I get one that looks too wide-eyed and crazed...he's probably going back and no tauntaun for me....here's hoping for a good one like the one in the store shot above, because this beast was always a favorite of mine....

Appreciate these new shots though....
