Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

i was bummed about the dewback not having articulation & almost passed. good thing i didn't as it is a glorious piece. no regrets. love it.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

I was of the same opinion until I started looking at the Dewback as simply another accessory, not a figure. It's great to look at, but it's a really big environment accessory for the Sandtroopers in my collection. It's still on my wanted list, but the shelf space is already reserved for it.

That said, a movable head on a Taun Taun would be great allowing it more display choices - facing either left or right for starters to make sure you don't have to display it facing a wall because it's the last shelf you have left. ;)

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

if ssc would have been able to engineer that dewback to be able to move his head left and right i would have bought two.
not being a polystone statue collector..........are any of ssc's staues moveable?.........not counting switch out heads/hands/etc.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

The early PF's had some movement in the arms... not sure if it was articulated limbs, or a wire armature. But they abandoned that pretty early on.

Only other ones I can think of are C-3PO and I think Robocop, guessing since they were droids it was more of an acceptable option.

yea, seems like some subjects would be easier to hide the joints. a "living" subject like the dewback's neck would probably be tons harder to make look right. and drive the cost up as well.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

That's why they only used real live Taun Tauns when making ESB. ;) The only problem was the smell. It would be interesting to see a 1:6 scale version with real fur instead of a sculpted representation - I just hope Sideshow's doesn't have any odor glands.

For me, the Taun Taun is much more iconic than the Dewback, but I have no idea where I'd display it, as I'm trying to keep everything to my office. I'm not sure Star Wars items would really fit into the decor elsewhere in the house. ;) So much of my display space has already been altered to make room for specific products, I'm afraid I've run out of expansion or rework options. It took some ingenuity to make enough space for the Dewback to "just" fit.

If the TaunTaun is released....dump the Dewback :lecture
:lol
Dewy's size is why I didn't get him, so the TaunTaun is a no brainer for me along with Hoth luke of course. Only decision is whether I need to get a HT bespin sculpt for him if SS doesn't come through. :dunno

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

Can't do that either as it would really screw up my Sandtrooper and Tusken Raider display spot. Every decision has a domino effect at this point. ;)

taun taun would be taller than the dewback...............and including the tail & how sideshow makes it curl...............well...............he would still eat up a lot of acreage.

but.............for me..............loved the dewback image as a kid & it really stuck.......as did the sandtroopers for some reason.:dunno

storm troopers on desert duty + they ride big friggin' lizards = infinite win!!!!!!.....:lecture

taun tauns come in 2nd............why?.............because they were second.............

I saw Empire barely a year after Star Wars, and I grew up with lots of snow. Tauntauns will always be my favorite.

Which is why I can only have one of them. :wink1:

I always liked the TaunTaun, maybe because it was used by the good guys and maybe because like devilof76 I grew up with lots of snow, although not as much as devilof76.

storm troopers on desert duty + they ride big friggin' lizards = infinite win!!!!!!.....:lecture

Agreed, but so do Luke and Han riding TaunTaun's

taun tauns come in 1st............why?.............because they were second.............

Fixed. :yess:

:lol

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

I am most supportive of articulation.

My fear is articualtion will make the tauntaun look like a toy and I already have a 1/6 Hasbro articulated tauntaun toy.

If it had faux fur instead of it being sculpted where it could cover the joints, that might work better.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

Two things -

1) I have no faith in that list.

2) If, by some miracle, we do get a Taun Taun this year, if it has no articulation, mine will sit in Sideshow's warehouse right next to my Dewback until someone else buys it.

I'll buy it!! :dance

Fur to hide joints:)

I think its better to be without articulation because the joints will show. Maybe just the head... dunno how this is going but I like to have a couple of this animal for my clones.
