I loved the movie up until the ending. I'm guessing a sequel is coming now?

I was surprised the movie literally took that ending turn that it did. Don't know if I feel like it made it a better movie or took a dip for it.

I thought the last 15 minutes were pretty terrible, but everything before that I really enjoyed.

It was intense. I mean it definitely made my heart beat faster. I think I did like that I didn't know it was coming. But I think after the movie was over I found that part to be the most empty part of the film.

For me, I felt it could have been done better, when it was happening I was thinking it was really ridiculous how she's running around, and creating whatever she needs on the fly :lol

The cocktail she makes was just way too convenient, and the ending left me a bit dissatisfied.

I'd love a sequel but from what I'm reading the clover field movies are basically like one offs.

I just read the original ending and it was exactly what I thought it would have been. While really not that far off from what we got I'm glad the ending was changed to what it is. The original ending is a little more predictable and common for this genre/ type of movie. The only thing I really disliked was how easy the Molotov brought that thing down, but overall the shift in tone has a great shock factor and is unpredictable.

So i'm getting the feeling everyone would've preferred a
solely psychological thriller with no aliens, Goodman's character was crazy and had imagined the invasion. May be there could've been an accident were a chemical spill injured the woman at the door and that MEW found this out when she finally escapes the bunker.

Not really, I liked the whole switch in tone at the end, I just didn't like the way things went down. It sort of strayed too far from everything we saw before.

Really enjoyed the movie, right up until the end. A little over the top. Most of the movie you're sitting there trying to figure out what really happened outside, how can they escape, etc. Then it gets so far removed from the other 95% of the movie.

The only part I didn't understand is the part about the daughter and the "help" being scratched into the clear top of the air hatch door, plus the earring being found there. Was that supposed to be from the daughter, another girl? When was that supposed to have happened?

He killed the girl who was wearing the earrings and probably dissolved her body in the tank full of chemicals. The same tank that he put the other guy in and was spilled on him.

I figured that part, but was confused about changing the names of the two girls and Emmitt's comment about it being someone different. And, did it happen just before Michelle got there, or well before?

That was the girl emmitt said was kidnapped and she obviously tried to escape. I wonder if even if he didn't catch them with their plan, if Goodman was going to kill Emmitt eventually anyway because he that daughter bond. Or if he was genuinely hoping to keep both of them safe. He was certainly insane I'm just not particularly sure in what way.

The atmosphere in the movie changed with the aliens. I think if they kept it a bit more built up with the alien hunting her down and more creepy it would have been an excellent twist. The tone changed when the alien just ran out and it became a chase scene.

Goodman definitely wanted Emmitt dead so that he could be alone with Michelle but didn't want to give away that he was a monster by killing him in front of her. Emmitt's confession finally gave Goodman the excuse he'd been looking for.

Yeah the climax was poorly executed, going all kaboom and mcgyver at the last minute was meh.
The character arc was cute but come on that was way too much.
Oh and the designs sucked too.

For a while, I thought that the confusion with who really was the daughter with the two pictures and the different names was because the picture showing the two girls were at different ages, but were the same person. Goodman had said that his wife took his daughter to Illinois. I was wondering if she took her daughter to Louisiana, where Emmitt was from, and he knew her in high school by a different name. I was thinking the mother changed the daughters name to keep Goodman from finding them.

Just watched this. Pretty good I thought. Liked that it kept you guessing whether Goodman was nuts or not. Love that he was...but he also wasn't. :lol

Nicely written movie up until the end. This didn't need to have the sci-fi twist. Just come up with some other creative ending and give the movie a different title without any ties to Cloverfield.
