Great work WG, you really got the look of the dress... which is good considering the amount of trial and error you ran into. But it looks totally worth it.

I'm not sure that any amount of photographic skills can salvage your horrendous Old Ben sculpt Trev.

The sounds like an interesting idea. I've never used hairspray on material before to help shape it. This particular material may be too stiff though for something as light as hairspray. Also, I would think as soon as you move the dress or hold the figure, the spray will be worked out and you'll lose your folds.
I'd love to see pictures of how yours came out.

Those latest pics have sold me. The dress certainly can be salvaged with that "water treatment, wrinkle inducing" treatment. But it's those pics of the headsculpt that have won me over.
I may let me Boushh Leia go in favor of this more iconic one.

Here's LEIA FUTZED:
I stripped her dress last night and ironed pleats using steam, then to hold the pleats I stitched just a bit in the line under the belt to hold them. Without ironing of some kind I'm not sure the pleats will hold with just stitching alone. Then it was just spending some time molding the dress to her body a bit and using a spray bottle to water treat a little to hold shape. Let it sit overnight... and this is what happened.
If you lay Leia down on her side, and are very careful, I would think you could iron in a couple pleats without having to remove the dress. I did that after I got the dress back on to shape the pleats more, so removal of the dress is not imperative. But the stitching to shape the folds is key.
That is of course if you want this look for your Leia. Not really necessary. I just wanted to try it as an experiment. The hard folds will lessen if you water treat Leia after and blow dry her.
She looks really nice Wor-Gar. While she might not be a total homerun she certainly gets a passing grade and I'm sure she'll look even better when grouped together with other figures. I still hope Hoth and Bespin Leia come out much better though.
I'm sure they will. I hope Andy did sculpts for either before he stopped working for Sideshow, he's captured her wonderfully in both the Boushh and ANH portraits. The outfit's the only real issue with this figure, the boots look fine, the guns are great as always, the head is right. If a few subtle things about the dress were better, this figure would be a standing double, sliding triple, to use baseball lingo. As it is, it's a double, but it just barely slid in there. Bespin Luke was an in the park home run.

I'm not gonna go so far as to say it's as good as the PF or GG's sculpt or that there's nothing wrong with it
Was there any customization done with that beyond dipping it in water and drying a few times?

WG, I'm totally impressed by your futzed Leia. I don't think I have the skill to do something like that. Hopefully, when mine arrives tomorrow I won't have too much to do to her. She'll never look like yours.
I did absolutely nothing to my Leia, all the pictures feature her as she was out of the packaging.

Great job and thanks for sharing your techniques with us. Will definitely be on the look-out for this one. Needs some work but you've shown us the potential that can be found with some work.

MaulFan, War-Gar, Great pictures, It really makes Sideshow's Leia shine! Even though I still have problems with the head size and dress, it makes it a little easier to pick her up when she eventually goes on sale.
