Here are some new shots, after being "worked on" a few days.

Nice work LF. Mine looks pretty much the same as yours, maybe the beard on mine is a little lighter, but your shots represent the fig very well and the mods look great bro. :D

I can see from the pics of the final product suffer from eyebrow problem.. if i do get my hands on this figure i would definitly sand off the eyebrows and redo it... trust me it would look heaps better if the eye brows are lowered which can reveal more of a serious look of Aragon... the original paint job looks as if Aragon is wearing some eye shadows too which made it even worse...

I agree, having said this all along, ad nausuem. The paint apps (eyebrows and beard) take away from the final production piece. AGAIN!

Little noob talking here :).
I saw the figure at my retailer yesterday, and I must say I was pretty impressed by the clothing, it looked very good, but with a few touch-ups it could be better. Accessoires were awesome as usual.

One thing I didn't like however was the headsculpt, so I've started making my own. It's a slightly resculpted and fully repainted Toybiz Rotocast Aragorn ($5). Proportions are very good in comparison with the SS body, still needs a neck though. Eyes are still being worked on. Let me know what you think!

not bad Estel. I definitely see Viggo more in that than with Sideshow's. I just won a Hot Toys Viggo Sculpt off ebay that I'll be reworking for mine.

I've been on the hunt for that one too for quite a while. It's probably the best 12" Viggo likeness out there.

You can get Toy Biz Aragorn from Bear Johnson at OneSixthDepot. Look under "Head Sculpts." Bear's site is like Monkey Depot or Battle Rhino, lots of parts, but he has more than just modern military stuff.

That head has a nose, though, that says "Adrien Brody as Aragorn." Bear has two Aragorn heads up, and one is available with or without the rubber hairpiece.

I don't think I ever saw Hot Toys' sculpt. Was it Viggo as Aragorn? Can one of you post a picture of it?

I'm still on the fence about this. Earlier pics looked awful, but as some have said, you can "futz" with it to make it better. Does this futzing mean I'll be repainting a lot, or can you make him look much better with just a little sandpaper, a steady hand, and a hairdryer? Also, does the hair bend back after a while, or does it stay put? I'm not up for a lot of high maintenance work here. Especially at $70+

And is the outer cloak worth paying the extra for the exclusive or better to just go find the regular cheap?

i just unboxed mine about 20 minutes ago. i think this figure looks much better than any of the "redone" pictures look. im not sure if i have a lucky paint job but i think it looks fine. im gonna get some dirt and mud on the overcoat and boots this weekend so it looks right.

I love htis pic man, you did a great job with the face, still have the face of "i want to pee" but who cares, great job and congrats!

War, nice job on the beard...best one I have seen yet!!

Cheers,

Brad

Got mine today. Really a super nice piece. IMO in person it is virtually the Proto with the exception of the the beard being a little thicker. Though in some shots of FOTR his beard was thicker. The Hair was already moved the way some of you have straight out of the box. I really don't have any problems with this even the coat doesn't appear to be as "new" looking. I'm really happy with the piece and can't wait for the next one.

Doily pics to come.

These aren't the best pics I've evern taken but they're ok and what I'll use on my site and in my gallery.

An unexpected party

Well, much to my surprise Aragorn arrived a day early and the box was in perfect condition, thank you UPS!

I have to say, I'm very impressed. I think Sideshow did a great job with a very complicated figure. As its been said ad-nauseam the beards a bit overdone and the coat (while nowhere near as bad as pics) does look a too new, IMO. One eye is definitely higher than the other, at first I thought it was just the paint apps, but its sculpted that way... although supposedly thats accurate for Viggo?

I do really like the exclusive cloak and I'm pretty sure thats how he'll be displayed. Here's some pics:

Turns out you can tuck the hair pieces back, like this... looks a little better IMO.

Josh - it looks like you need to flip his belt, the scabbard rigging looks upside down. :wave
