Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

not at all excited by hobbits. I would much rather have gandalf or some ringwraiths.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

The good news of the new body is, it opens the door for other things, young Anakin in the Star Wars line, John Connor for the Terminator line...very promising and would justify minimal updating to the current adult bodies, more effort put into making these, very curious to see what sort of articulation will be in them.

I for one want TPM Ani more than AOTC Ani. :D

Maybe this also reflects what the new PT two-fer will be that was hinted at CIV?

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

I hate to damper the spirits, but shouldn't the top of their heads be about where their shoulders are compared to the humans' scale?

you're right, they should be smaller. They should come up to mid chest, and Gimli almost to the shoulders. At this scale Gimli will either be way too tall... or the same height as the Hobbits.

I'm guessing they've chosen this middle ground so they can use the same bodies for Gimli. And to be honest I'm fine with that compromise if it means we get the figures. Besides, I can always chop legs off or pose them crouched or something. But you're definitely right, going by that pic they do look far too tall/big (it's not just the height, the overall scale is big, their heads should be smaller compared to the human heads)

Ya, I hadn't thought of the recycling uses for the body, and you're absolutely right, as a business, they'll only gain from the work to get this body if they get max use out of it, so making something that falls between Hobbit and teenage human height should cover a fair ammount of ground. I think as figures they look fine, I just had a feeling they seemed a bit big, because one thing that made me laugh in the films was watching the 2 Hobbits running through the soldiers in the final battle of ROTK, they get outrun and look so small it's laughable, but in a good way.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

I have always thought that screen cap made the Hobbits look to small for some reason... I guess scale wise it would be accurate though.

That could be great news IF the other figure was a Padme, they've already got a perfect HS of Portman for the snow bunny, you just slap on appropriate hair for each appearance, so you sculpt some new hair do up a nice TPM outfit and walla, Young Ani / Padme 2-pack. :)

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

Yeah, if they had to compromise a little thats totally fine with me.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

very cool news...now lets hope gandalfs not too far behind.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

LOVE IT...CAN'T Wait...looks like the Hobbits are slightly taller than expected, BUT...Sideshow is obviously compromising between LOTR, Star Wars, and every other line that has smaller scale figures in it. A slight compromise in one line will have greater benefits across the board.

I would expect a SAM/FRODO Twin Pack and retail around $100. Loads of Accessories appear to be stuffed into those packs...

Would expect a couple more announcements at the show as well...probably a baddie in some format or another.

So, here is what we can expect so far:
PF Gandalf the White on Display
12-Inch Sam
12-Inch Frodo
Legendary Bust?
Another PF?
Another Diorama?
Another 12-Incher?

I am hoping for another 12-Inch Announcement and at least one more PF announcement. After getting the Crack of Doom...I would LOVE another Diorama announcement.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

Someone wanna start a new thread about this news? I don't think the word is getting out with a title like "Get Ready to eat your hat" :lol

and yes, I'm too lazy... in fact I really don't care that much... just a passing thought. :sleep

That would be fine with me. I would expect the Hobbits to come in 2 packs actually. One accessories I can't get to get a hold of is Sting. That will be way cool and also I hope the Hobbits come with their Lothlorien cloaks.

I hope we get a GTG vs Balrog Dio. That's one I must have and I wouldn't mind if we also got them cresting the hill from FOTR.

I'm kind of thinking we'll get Sam, Frodo, and GTG in 1:6th scale. Another PF I'm thinking a Nazgul or something along those lines.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

I'm looking forward to the hobbits. Getting a 12" GTG would be fantastic but after seeing this surprise I really doubt it will happen.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

Holy moley that's beautiful. I can't believe it--I don't collect this line, but I know that folks are waiting on the entire Fellowship in this format and this is a really welcome addition. I'm also interested in seeing what this will mean for the Star Wars line, now that they have smaller bodies.

Yeah...I tend to agree. I think they will SAVE GTG 12-Incher for another promotional...like Spooktacular or something like that.

A dio of that scene (Gandalf/Balrog) never dawned on me before. That would be awesome. I hope we do get something like that in the dio line one day.
