Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

Maybe they will save Pippin for the very last of the Fellowship in the 12" line, and put him in his Minas Tirith armor.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

Would expect a couple more announcements at the show as well...probably a baddie in some format or another.

Is it too much to hope for a LS Balrog or Ringwraith? :D

Wow! I didn't realize at first that this was actually a picture of the figures :rock

They look excellent so far, maybe a tad tall... but they're sizes did seem to vary a bit from scene to scene. And anyway, I'm just stoked that they are here so soon!!!

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

I'm not so sure about the two pack. Looking at Sam's accessories, he will be loaded down! And don't forget, the actual cost of materials won't be a huge savings just because they are a little smaller... the real cost was the development, sculpting, fabrication, etc., which probably costs about the same whether it is Aragorn or Sam, and only affected by the amount of detail in the costume and accessories. Also, they have to recoup the cost of R&D for the smaller bodies, so really, I don't expect a two pack. I would predict they are sold individually, and the price will be between $45 and $55, which to me, isn't all that bad.

I agree Lonnie. Word-for-Word.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

As for the size, the average Hobbit should be about 3' tall, making them about half the height of the average 6' human. Merry and Pippin made 4' by the end of the book. So these are a "bit" tall, probably as a compromise for other lines as has been mentioned, but they still look good, and a good pose can make up for the slight "tallness"! Bring 'em on!!! I was starting to get a little worried about this line, but now, I'm in it for the full run!

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

Lets just hope we don't have a monkey arm debaucle with the new super-short body :lol

I think you are probably right about the prices Lonnie, I would imagine if anything them being smaller makes the figures even more difficult to produce.

But even if there isn't going to be a two-pack... maybe a gift card or something for buying both? Either way I'll definitely be getting these guys!

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

Good point on the price with all the R&D they might cost a little more actually. I'm just excited to finally be getting some Hobbits.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

A dio of that scene (Gandalf/Balrog) never dawned on me before. That would be awesome. I hope we do get something like that in the dio line one day.

Thats up there as one of my two MUST haves.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

The idea of a two-pack (not the rapper..dog) would fall into line (excuse the pun) with what SS are doing with SW as well--- as they'll be announcing a two-pack for the 12" (from the PT).

I love the idea that we're going to have hobbits to add to our growing Fellowship but hopefully what will also be announced will be the evil forces from LOTR for the 1/6 line.

Saruman, Uruk-hai, Wormtongue... So many figures that would be absolutely breathtaking in the 12" format.

Here's hoping.

I didn't consider a two pack, as in the Endor Rebels type packaging; that could easily happen. I thought people were talking about both figures in one box for about the same price, or a little more, than a standard figure, which I don't think will happen.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

That's a nice tease. Good job Sideshow! :rock But do the right thing!!! You had creature packs for Star Wars so I expect, no I demand a 12" Bill!!!!!!!

The size issue doesn't concern me. These are 12" figures (aka Dolls) not statues. Do some people actually expect them to make a separate body for each size of character?

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

Neither am I going to quibble about the total accuracy of the size ratio. As long as we CAN see a size difference, a few cm isn't going to bother me at all. C'mon guys! Isn't this what many of us have been clamoring for for so long? Let's give SS a chance to show us the actual product before we start bringing out the tar and feathers and the nit-picking.

Hobbits!!! O MY!!! :frodo :clap :fireworks :bunnydanc :bunnydanc :bunnydanc :bunnydanc :bunnydanc

I totally agree. Why would a Hobbit will be cheaper than Aragorn or Boromir? Just because they are shorter? The layered costumes and accessories are especially detailed for Sam and Frodo, it's a new body, so I'd be shocked if they're cheaper than any of the others. I really much more interested in SS not cutting corners on quality than the price or 2 pack question.

Regardless... HOBBITTS!!!!! :blissy :blissy :blissy
