Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

Yeah. I would be very surprised to see either Frodo or Sam for less than $54.99... When does does Sideshow reveal all their new announcements at SDCC?

Whenever it is, it can't come soon enough for me. :blissy

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

Neither am I going to quibble about the total accuracy of the size ratio. As long as we CAN see a size difference, a few cm isn't going to bother me at all. C'mon guys! Isn't this what many of us have been clamoring for for so long? Let's give SS a chance to show us the actual product before we start bringing out the tar and feathers and the nit-picking.

Hobbits!!! O MY!!! :frodo :clap :fireworks :bunnydanc :bunnydanc :bunnydanc :bunnydanc :bunnydanc

Totally agree Rumi!!

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

WOHOOO !!!!

Finally, Gimli will be made !!!!

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

The idea of a two-pack (not the rapper..dog)...
Is it commonly accepted to call rap artists 'dogs' these days? Just wondering, since to me, it sounds a bit disdainful. I don't see the connection.

It's great that the Hobbits are coming. Wouldn't mind a two- or a four-pack. That would also lower the shipping costs. I'm curious how SSC will play this card.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

This is great news for those few 12" collectors who are still holding on. This is just the thing to breathe life back into the line. Let's hope the sculpts are up to par as well.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

Good news for the 12" collectors. But, I dropped this line awhile ago and haven't looked back.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

FANTASTIC NEWS!!! :chew:chew:chew:chew

The height is definitely off but perhaps a little plastic surgery can make them closer to scale.

Keep the "Fellowship Nine" Figures coming, Sideshow!!!

(Now we need Gandalf the Grey announced at SDCC as well...) :monkey3

I just saw this and it gave me the chills!!! :rock

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

i wonder if the exclusive(when Sam gets made) will have a Sam head where you can squeeze it and tears come out...he seemed to do a lot of crying. that's my guess anyway.

Great news! now how about some LOTR bad guys?

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

From the look of the pic, they appear to be about 8" tall. That's quite large for a 'HALF-ling'

:lol:lol

Frodo's exclusive should be some kind of mechanism that allows you to have him fall on his back constantly.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

Perhaps they made them a bit bigger in scale so that the costumes wouldn't suffer. I always thought that would be the biggest obstacle with Hobbits, pulling off nice looking costumes at that scale.

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

I'm not so sure about the two pack. Looking at Sam's accessories, he will be loaded down! And don't forget, the actual cost of materials won't be a huge savings just because they are a little smaller... the real cost was the development, sculpting, fabrication, etc., which probably costs about the same whether it is Aragorn or Sam, and only affected by the amount of detail in the costume and accessories. Also, they have to recoup the cost of R&D for the smaller bodies, so really, I don't expect a two pack. I would predict they are sold individually, and the price will be between $45 and $55, which to me, isn't all that bad.

Discuss...
If SSC would have children sized 12" Art S. Bucks, don't you think they should sell them for less than their regular 12" Bucks? I can very well understand that quality is an important issue with these 12" figures, but if there's a way to safe the collectors a few dollars, why not embrace it, in stead of encouraging Sideshow to pull the cash out of our pockets? The 12" Hobbits are coming, and all of a sudden the bad paint jobs, and the bad likenesses are forgotten??
SSC charged more for the 12" SW Han Solo Exclusive than for the regular version, because of the 'huge' Mynock. So, it's ok to charge more for more plastic, but it's not ok to pay less for less plastic?
I can see that some people here are prepared to pay the same prize for these smaller 12" figures, than for the regular 12" figures, but that does not mean that SSC should actually go ahead and do so. What ever the developing/production costs of these 12" figures are, a small portion of it is determined by the material. Smaller bodies = less plastic. May not seem a lot on one figure, but it'll add up. And I don't think SSC will make their customers pay for the development of these new bodies either. Investing in development is just part of the deal if you are in this business.

This makes sense to me, and frankly im not worried. I am interested in the 'real scale' though. I remember seeing a picture on the dvd comparing all the different sizes of characters - hobbits, dwarfs, men, elves, cave troll ... cant seem to find it though....

I did find this pic in the appendix though

Re: Get ready to eat your hat...

They are in business to make money. That being said, knowing how awesome the costuming and the accesories are I still don't feel like these should be less than $54.99. Its not a question of encouraging them either since I am pretty sure the price point on these was set long ago.

:D
