Anyone see the opening of the Superbowl? Harrison's eye color did seem more green than anything else, but they are definitely a color that's hard to pin down.

I don't recall anyone on any forum saying the actors likeness was this off regarding Luke,Obi or Anakin.

I'm just hoping SS addresses these complaints and changes the figure because I'd really love to have it if could look like the one in that fan corrected pic.
You apparently didn't follow the Aragorn as Strider debacle when that figure was announced. The hue and cry were almost deafening. There were fan-created "correction" pics to "prove" how off the sculpt was, how the eyes, nose, mouth and chin were all absolutely, positively, completely, 100% totally wrong. There were many who insisted that the sculpt had to be corrected to match the fan-created pics, or they would never buy the figure. And yet, after more pics were released, the din faded away, and the majority of the detractors ended up happily buying the figure on priority pre-order day.

I am sure that there will be those who stick to their guns with regard to their dislike of the Han figure, but I also know that many, many of the complainers will change their opinion when more pictures are released.

On the other hand, I doubt that more pictures will cause any significant negative change in opinion from those who are either already pleased, or taking a wait-and-see view before making up their minds.

I think this is different from any debate that went on regarding the Aragorn.

The fact that people are going to complain about the sculpt of a chin or nose is much more a matter of opinion than something that is as undisputably incorrect as the actors eyecolor.

Viggo Mortensen does have blue eyes but had they painted them brown I think that debate would be on the level of this one regarding the Han.

People are always going to bitch that "the nose is wrong" or "his cheekbones don't look like ___" but there's not as much right or wrong with those arguments as there are something that cannot be disputed when it comes to things like eye and hair color.

I'm not saying squat about the sculpt of Han's face because that I cannot see in the pic. I can however see his eye color and eyebrows and they are not correct. It's as simple to prove as doing a google search of Ford and looking at his pics.

I personally have no fears on the sculpt of his face as I think SS does a tremendous job of capturing the likeness of the actors face.

It's the paint job that I'm unhappy with.

BTW, for what it's worth I think the Aragorn is frickin superb.I love everything about it and have had zero complaints about it from the beginning.
I actually feel the sculpt and costume surpasses any of the SW 12" so far....

Here is a quote made by Sideshow Andy on the scum page. I'll take his word over anyones.

I think you're forgetting that the final look of these figures is not up to us, we have to answer to a higher power. I know this portrait (as most do) underwent many, many, many revisions requested by the licensor. I've got a casting of the portrait right in front of me, and it DOES look exactly like Harrison Ford. I haven't seen the face painted yet, but the sculpt is brilliant in my opinion.

Oh, give us a little more credit than that. We are fans of this material, and we want this product to be the best it can be as much (and more) than anyone. Besides, even if we were rushing this line (which we most definitely aren't), Star Wars isn't exactly a fleeting property who's hype we need to 'make a quick buck' on. Star Wars has been a HUGE icon for almost 30 years, I don't think we need to pump anything out 'as fast as we can' for these to be successful. Rest assured that we are taking our time to make these figures the best that we possibly can and giving this license the respect it deserves.

edit: And for God's sake, does that Pamela figure have to show up in every thread? And be re-posted multiple times to boot?

I'm not even going to go into the whole I've-seen-Harrison's-eyes-IRL-and-they-were-bluegreen argument again.

What I'm gonna do, on the other hand, is say that I'M POSITIVELY, DEFINITIVELY NOT BUYING THIS FIGURE IF THE MYNOCK LIKENESS ISN'T EXACT. INCLUDING ITS EYE COLOR. Although, admittedly, I haven't seen a live Mynock.

Yet.

lol! Screen-accurate Mynock eyes! The new benchmark for SW collectible acceptability!

:D

Well exactly!

And then we can all have endless arguments on whether Lucas had them retinted for the SE DVDs, and dig up our old VHS tapes for screen-grab comparisons, and so on. It could be loads of fun.

:D

how is he similar? the shirt is different, the pants are different, he's wearing a blue coat, not a black vest.

a duplicate version would be to make the ANH han solo in 1/6th scale.

Exactly! His pants no longer had red dashes along the side, but yellow dashes, his shirt was different and the vest was replaced with the jacket. To top it all off his face aged and hair changed. To me, this version was the ultimate Han. He was never more bold or full of himself as he was during this film. Awesome character choice!.... And it is NOT in any way like the 1:4th scale Han...

this one is waaay more scruffy lookin'!:wacky

Agreed 100%.

Nothing can touch 1980 Harrison Ford.

The ultimate in cool.

That's probably why I feel so strongly that this figure get made with the respect it deserves.:bow

I think that there is at least a similarity between this and the costume for the 1/4 scale version. At a glance, the major difference is the change from vest to jacket. The differences in pant stripe color and shirt cut would also be obvious upon closer inspection. In general, he looks similar to how he did in ANH.

I understand that there are differences, but of all the main characters, I think that Han's costume changed the least throughout the OT. I am thinking of the difference between ANH Leia and Slave or Endor Leia, or Farm Boy Luke and Jedi Luke in ROTJ. Han's ESB outfit was definitely different, but I see it as more of an alteration or update rather than the complete redesign that some other characters received.

I do agree that ESB was Han's finest hour as a character. Much of his scoundrality and pimpitude were left behind when he was released from that carbonite.

That's a very convincing counterargument.

I just meant, that I can't believe someone actually THINKS up stuff like that, to take it so seriously, all of this "how can Han be in space without exploding" etc. etc.....

Dude it's a MOVIE:D :D

My point is that you can't really form an opinion about it without really seeing it.

So, Dave, you must agree then, that it's pretty pointless Sideshow producing these "teaser" promos.....All they ever seem to get is negative comments...like Aragorn..and now Han.:D

Hmm, I want a Han figure, I only wish the picture showed more, I'm hoping that we get a Production Blog pic soon (like now...) For some reason, Rebelscum said that a Mynok is the exclusive for Han, no one has confirmed that, have they? It would be nice, but it may be too much of an exclusive. Sadly I won't be at home on Friday, so I have to get someone else to order it for me, I hope that they don't mess it up.

DarthViper a mynock has indeed been confirmed as the exclusive. And word is she (he?) is a biggun.
