I'm definitely psyched about getting him, but the more I look at that bland, slightly cranky-looking painted proto, the more trouble I have seeing Ford or the excellent unpainted sculpt. I'll be really interested to see what the repaints on here look like, and will probably end up shipping mine off to someone to get some Ford-ification done.

Oh, the sculpt is Ford for sure... Will look a lot better when the repaints begin. I can't wait to have it in hand. I might even make a Deckard sculpt out of the extra, also sure I will be doing the Professor Jones version or German uniform version of Indy.

Overall, I think I will enjoy this more than the PF. However, I think the PF will become a huge "conversation piece", whereas the 1/6 is more of a toy (which is fine).

Indeed. Well that and the lack of a gun-holding hand (which was such a no-brainer that I'm still stunned about it).

Although it could be another case where the licensor wouldn't allow something like a gun hand. I mean hell, they removed the guns in E.T., any stupid decision is possible.
I actually thought about that, but then remembered how many other INDY and SW products have the character holding a gun. (Look at GG's statue with him on the horse for just one recent example)
I think it's just a baffling oversight/bad decision.

I much more like the PF than this but I have a hard time canceling this one because of the custom opportunities. I really want a Professor Indy out of this and have a feeling that a recipe will make its way on the boards soon after its released....

Yeah, probably true. Although who knows what the decision process is like for what they will and will not allow.
And as I get more used to the idea, having the extra head is certainly better than not. I just does not have that "wow" factor I think we were all expecting.

I don't know, besides the one scene shooting the sword guy, Indy isn't known for wielding a revolver, he is known for the whip!
He certainly uses his gun more than he's seen holding the Fertility Idol.

Gun hand is just one option... while not the only one, it would have been a fun addition.
