I think the Mace sculpt is perfect in every way, however the eye color was distracting to me. After seeing Andy's color change I decided to try it myself with the following results:

I used a micron pigma pen size 005 from Hobby Lobby, it is an archival pen.
For me he is more Sam Jackson.

Are you just supposed to color in the whole pupil with the pen?

Nash I used a magnifying glass and just penned the entire iris except for the white dot. You could just pen over it too and then replace it but I just colored over the light brown iris.

Great work as usual, Mikey. So, when can we expect to see a custom Obi-Wan from you?

Thanks Johny i'll try it!

Man, I can;t wait to get this figure!!! I think I'm gonna do the eye mod. I like the dark eyes better.

Okay, better pics. I used the flash because it shows all the fleshtone in unflinching detail. Bad for the caucasion figures, good for Mace (and Apone in the custom thread).

Not to be a d!ckhead but I am not feeling this repaint Mikey. I think it's good but not one of your best. I still say your Anakin and Palpatine are the cream of the crop. I can't wait to see what you do with Obi-Wan.

I coulda wish we got a sorta neutral facial expression. You know.. the blank stares he gave Yoda in ep1. :lol

Yeah, I'm not as practiced in doing African skin, but I wanted to give it a shot anyway. I'm happy with him, and he looks great next to my other repainted figures, whereas with just the factory apps, he looked a little cheesy.

Palpatine was definitely one of my better works, and will always be hard to top, I think. All that detail in his face and the multiple layers of color! He's a lot of fun to paint up.

I hope Obi turns out well. The varying tones in his beard and hair are going to be a real challenge.

Irish, which trick did you use to darken the eyes? And are they solid black now?

Mikey, I really like the shading you put on your figure's faces. That's with the ground up pastels you were talking about, right? It really adds depth and a sense of realism. The shading underneath his left eye is a bit dark though, so it gives me the illusion of black eye. Maybe this was intentional! But anyway, I love everything else about that paint app. Great job Mike! :monkey5

Is the Jango helmet hollow? Anyone have the guts to cut out the underside to make it wearable?

I was thinking about this helmet problem. If,indeed,it is hollow inside, does anybody have any of the severed head exclusives, like Vlad the impaler,Pam Vorhees,Blackbeard??Why not put one of those inside, purely as a temporary measure of course.
Custom Mikeys picture of Mace on the previous page, hood up,face turned towards the right is the best picture for capturing the likeness IMO.Stunning.

Yeah, many layers of pastels. I can see what you're saying about his "black eye." The flash of the camera is very unforgiving, which is what I wanted to be able to show you those layers in the skin. Fortunately, the shading in the eye (not intentional...) doesn't show up so blatantly in normal lighting.
