I don't know why anyone takes a baby to things like this, including ballgames. For one thing, it's very loud and the baby starts to cry, it disturbs others. Believe me, if I had a baby, I would just stay home or get a sitter. A movie is not that important.

I do not disagree on that point at all. Taking a baby is not a good idea at any time, even the social norm of matinee. I just had read several "midnight" comments at this and other sites and wanted to make a rebuttal.

Yeah we mentioned that a few pages back before things started to get out of hand.It's pretty scary to think about isn't it?It's like death followed her since she cheated it the first time with a similar shooting incident.

Well nothing was heard of back then. You really think they are more sexual predators now or did we just not hear about it? I agree things are somewhat worse now ( I am only few years younger then you) but I also think we were more naive about things back then too.



I was part joking and part not joking. I have been in the WORST parts of LA and felt somewhat unsafe. I was in Detroit for couple weeks for work( dealing with law enforcement) and a few areas I was in I was like FU get me out of here. I am not scared easy as far as that stuff either.

I don't think our parents were naive...the real threats weren't there. We played from 8 am til 9pm blocks away from home..that does not happen now. We walked a mile to school alone..both ways without an adult. Nthat would never happen now. Our country has changed in the part 30 years..you can keep your head in the sand or you can adapt. Not saying you personally have head in sand. We are heading downwards. Part of the reason I didn't want a child..yet I'm days away from our little girl. If we look like this now I'm scared to see us 30 years from now. Really sad and scared.

What difference do gun laws or anything like that matter. If someone wants to kill they are gonna kill by any means necessary. Don't fear the gun fear the person using it. Why do people put a political spin on everything???

Professional terrorists can always find ways and means because they have the contacts, money and a structure to be able to do so. The same cannot be said for average joe. If average joe wanted to go on a mad killing spree and he had no access to firearms the result would be far far less destructive.

My friend moved to america 16 months ago after living in England all his life and he now has 2 magnums and a shotgun. Just because he can. If somebody pissed him off or he went in an outrage here all he could do is maybe smash a few window with the nearest big blunt object he could find until he calmed down or was restrained, If he lost his cool there he could cause a mad killing spree.

It feels like a BS answer for gun apologists to use just because they want to keep their guns. Gun are enablers and need taken out of circulation.

That's only because most people would never do that, is why. It's not so much about what happened. Anyone blaming the kid's death on the parents is stupid.

Now people bringing a small baby to a baseball field is stupid, depending on where they sit, not only because of the hot sun, but those foul balls and homers can knock someone out!

You have made some good arguments here, but that veers into 'golden age' thinking.

Child sexual abuse and violence have always been a pervasive part of the human condition. We only think these things happens more because we in developed nations have finally and thankfully become a) more vigilant about them and b) more willing to discuss them openly.

The Catholic sex abuse scandal for example stretches back decades. In the 1950's the Church in the Netherlands was able to get away with castrating boys who claimed abuse on the grounds they were homosexuals. Look me in the eye and tell me that we are worse society than that one.

Now in the case of violence our 'acceptable' outlets of war, lynchings and lawless regions have disappeared and so the same impulses may spill over into tragedies like this one. Are soldiers massacring a village in some foreign country substantially different that these domestic mass shooting?

People connecting religious belief to their right to defend themself or to take action against others--- cause, religious differences have never caused any unnecessary deaths in the world.



Oh, and I'm sure that the writers of the second amendment weren't talking about semi-automatics when thinking about the keeping of firearms in homes that were used for the dual purpose of both hunting and protecting their homes against tyrannical forces (dastardly redcoats)... Detroit.....depending on which theater you go into, some of the patrons are probably carrying a gun, probably illegally. Someone whips out a gun and starts shooting, chances are there will be shots fired back. They aren't going to care who gets caught in the crossfire.

I wasn't saying that's what they should do, or even what I would do, but being close to Toledo (nicknamed little Detroit) they have things similar happen, though not to this extent.

And if it wasn't it deserves to be shot? Let's not lose focus on the bad guy here. A 3 month old vs. a ____ head with 4 guns. Plenty of parent have taken kids to movies at night. Some of you might check with mom and dad to see what they did with you when u were an infant. And going to a movie at midnight shoud be a ____ing safe thing. You shouldn't have to worry about being gunned down by a psycho if you go to the movies. ____ing hell..let's blame the guilty here...not the innocent

I'm sure newborn parents never go to McDonald's at midnight to eat. Should they be killed? I'm sure they never get gas at midnight. Should they be shot. I'm sure they never run to cvs to get medicine..should they be shot? Don't be ____ing naive.

Ok maybe naive is the wrong word. I agree things have changed but I also think that things aren't nearly as different as the news patents ect.. Lead us to believe too. I remember a friend wouldn't let there kid have those little skateboard ramps, when at the same age we were riding 10-15' half pipes, pools, and my 4' launch ramps but 1 1/2' ramps are too dangerous. Many reasons things have changed is parents are worried about every little thing. Those parents are the same kids who grew up with us and did all things we did.


And to say no kid porno is naive, there just wasn't an Internet to easily access it.

He ran out of bullets and then went back to his truck to wait for the cops. He surrendered immediately.
