They are doing great. :yess:

Awesome! Time for Eli to populate the world!

*watches everyone scream in fear* Oh yes, it will happen! Muawahahahaha!

Anyway, I am glad your kiddos are doing well. You have a great family. Who knows, maybe that will be in the cards for me one day.

I know that's what you want. It will happen. And thank you! :duff

another shooting followed by the usual rituals of shock, crocodile tears and talk of god followed by lobby groups and mice that think guns can turn them into men.....total B.S.

Why do you mean, "you hope" when concerning his genuine feelings? Skeptic much? Are we that jaded as a public we think figure heads/leaders like Obama's feelings have to be put the slightest in question?

How are things in Ireland these days? Better?

You can't stop things like this from happening. As long as there are evil people, evil acts will be committed. It's really that simple.

Oh i agree, its just a matter of scale. This sicko wouldn't have been able to do as much horror with a club or blade without being stopped early.

Imho these incidents happen too often and something must be done to curb them, there are options, people may not like them but the alternative is much worse

:peace

Thinking about the families, in addition to their enormous loss, why did it have to happen around the holidays, this will be the worst christmas ever for them :(

Why do you mean, "you hope" when concerning his genuine feelings? Skeptic much? Are we that jaded as a public we think figure heads/leaders like Obama's feelings have to be put the slightest in question? Does it matter whether he is or not? It doesn't change the situation. I would say his feelings are genuine. He has children of his own. Most are empathetic because they know someone who has a child or they are a parent themselves. Yup, it's awful. I think a lot of people were hurt by this. Not just the families. This is 5-10 year-olds. And while I don't like putting value on ages over others, it still is one of those things were pure innocence, which is what those children are at this point of time, have been violently stripped away from their families. That just hurts to the core. Doesn't matter what your background or your status is... if you're human and you have a heart somewhere inside of you (the metaphorical one), I can't see how this wouldn't make you broken up.

I actually said I thought he was genuinley upset but there is part of me that thinks he was conciously acting up more.

I know it is a ****ty thing to say whether it's true or not but it's my gut feeling.
I have no political siding either way and think he is a good figurehead and hope he can bring some positive changes.
I am a father of a 2 year old and as he is a father I'm sure there is some empathy and true emotion on his part.
But politics and positive spin is what its all about I'm afraid.
Anyway not saying anymore on the subject thats my view.

As someone who works in an elementary school, unless you want to turn your schools into prisons, nothing is going to prevent crazies from causing harm if they are intent on doing so.

Exactly, what I said, but in different words. It's like stepping into a car or on a plane. Crashes due to mechanical/user/outside sources are inevitable. You can't design a perfectly safe car that will have a 100 percent certainty of a survival rate for its passengers or a plane that never will crash. Like the great things that happen in this world, so do the ****tiest of things. When concerning the latter of the two, we just hope and pray that it doesn't happen to us or the ones we love.

Indeed, nothing will stop the crazies from causing harm, but like i said their are steps that can be taken to stop them causing as much harm.

Like Eli said nothing can stop the ineviability of car crashes, but the industry spends millions to ensure as much safety as possible so their are fewer casualties, the same principle applies for the Government, find the direct thing all of these heinous crimes have in common and takes steps to nullify them for the safety of Schools, Malls, Colleges and other areas of mass people

I know there are many people here who do not believe in God, but I do, so I will say that for my own beliefs, that was the only way I got any comfort in this (which was still no comfort at all). Was to think that God needed more beautiful Angels this Christmas.

No there really isn't an option. Timothy Mcveigh killed 189 people (including 19 children in a daycare) and injured at least 400 more. He was able to do this by parking a van in front of a building and blowing it up. Sick people will find a way to do whatever they want. You have a very false sense of security if you believe any laws or protocols can help you. That's the world we live in. Always been that way. :(

Do we know there are fewer casualties? Cars maybe safer than 20 years ago, but there is far more drivers out on the road. And a lot of them are not of the good variety. I would love to see the numbers. When it comes to population, numbers continue to increase across the board. There is just too much people and too much available to them to do harm to others that no matter what protocol you throw at someone, you can not predict or stop a person from accomplishing said goal for good or bad. Perhaps we have become a bit jaded, but it's only because history keeps repeating horrible events.

My wife has been to Israel. Apparently teachers wear rifles slung over their shoulders. Honestly if you want to protect schools, malls, gas stations, whatever, a show of force is probably your best option. I have mixed feelings about that personally. But Ween is right. That's the only way to prevent it.

I imagine that's quite a rare method compared to others though. The method this psycho chose is an all too familiar one.

There are plain as day options to curb these types of massacres, people just don't want to accept them as it means giving something up that they don't want to give up. These massacres will happen again and again until the people place restrictions on the tools the murdered use to commit their crimes

There are always options. Just like the killer had options. But that's just it, as long as humans are humans, and they are given options, both good and bad, good and bad stuff will happen as a reaction to those options. We can only control what's in our power. That's ourselves. Our choices. Those options we speak of. We have no power over others, and as a result, we aren't always going to like the result of those options.
