18 dead in Connecticut Elementary School Shooting

Now, they're reporting that there are 27 dead, 18 of which are children. Keep them in your prayers, folks.

I really believe part of the problem is how the news media reports it. Look at this guy; Yesterday, no one knew who he was, now he's a "star" (not advocating this, of course, it's horrible). Everyone knows his name, his face will be plastered all over, etc. The media needs to start doing what sports leagues do when someone runs on the field: Say that you're not going to show it on TV, not going to report his name, make him go down with no acknowledgement. That may stop all this.

Absolutely agree, these dispicabe people want the fame that goes long with the crime.

I'm truly disgusted with this type of violence how anyone can do anything this horrific and is beyond me...My heart go's out to those affected by this tragedy and prey for this senseless vilonce to stop! Thats awful. To be honest, I had a not so rational thought that his parents should be punished for raising a killer. Guess one of them was. That is awful to be a reality.

Sometimes it's beyond a parents control. Sometimes people are just broken. From what I've been reading they think he killed his father at home and his mother is a teacher at the school and was killed there.

It's people that break other people. On fox that one blonde reporter is saying he was (probably) one of those alienated people who plays video games.

meh, nobody remembers the names of these losers, just the events and victims. I don't even remember what the Batman movie killer looks like and that wasn't long ago.

I was walking through the elementary side of our school when I heard the news...

I can't even imagine what everyone is going through in Newtown, Connecticut.

Don't give the focus to the shooter. Don't get angry. He doesn't deserve our attention. Put all the focus on the family and loved ones who lost someone in this. They deserve our attention and love.

These kids didn't have a chance.

Damn, I feel so sad right now.
Mostly for the parents, siblings, and friends that lost someone today because of this.

So, so sorry.

I was watching this when my 4-year-old niece walked into the room with her big smile. All I could do was just give her a big hug.

Make every single day count bro.

The guy commits such a henious crime and then shoots himself. Instant death. Families and friends left grieving. No closure for them. The world goes on, God forbid, just waiting for another such incident to happen.

Just very very sad. Tragic is an understatement.
