Yeah, I don't even have kids. I mean I am an uncle. I even was brought to tears by this thinking what those parents must be feeling. It's really sad.

I have a six and seven year old in school right now. Stories like this make you sick in the stomach. My wife went so far as to say "I wish I had the patience to home school them". I think there is something avaluable in being able to interact with other people, but she has a point.

So many crazies in the world today. Not to hijack the thread, but here’s a story that I read about earlier this month that didn’t get a lot of publicity nationally, but also involved some guy trying to kill his parent in a school…

I don't know what to say. This is unprecedented. 18 kids?! Beyond horrible. That ****ing coward.

If you missed Obama's address on the issue that was aired a few moments ago on a bunch of channels: [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Db6B-PTRAKs[/ame]

That son of a *****!!! This really hits home with me since my kids are the same age as some of the children. I know the families are going through unimaginable pain and my prayers go out to them and the victims.

People that go in and shoot their workplace up because they are disgruntled are crazy.

A person who would go into a school and shoot innocent babies is just pure evil.

Insanity doesn't even come close to describing this person's mental condition.

My heart feels broken right now.

I think it's pretty crazy and evil to kill anyone at any age. It's as hard on a child to lose a parent as it is for a parent to lose a child. Nobody deserves to die like this. Nobody. Anyway, I need to get some stuff done to get my mind off of this awful tragedy.

So now it's elementary schools along with movie theaters, malls, colleges, high schools, and work that we can't go to in fear of some pos killing people. I'm ashamed of our society right now.

I absolutely cannot imagine what those parents are going through right now. The pictures of the crying children being led out is so heartbreaking. What the hell is wrong with our world?

Sad thing is, things are only going to get worse...

Goddamnit...

Reading the accounts of what happened through that link in the first post brought me to tears. Horrible, just horrible news. My thoughts are with the victims, their families and their loved ones.

I seriously hope the shooter burns in hell for all eternity.

My wife and I have had the same discussion on numerous occasions. I'm certain it'll come up tonight as well. Unfortunately, it's just not practical and the seclusion/isolation of doing so can potentially do more damage than good. :(

[QUOTE At least the shooter is dead.[/QUOTE]

They shouldn't kill him right away. They should make him suffer and kill him slowly

It's tough, you risk socially handicapping them just to give yourself piece of mind... I'm sure we all wish we could wrap our children in some protective bubble where no one could ever hurt them though. I know I do.

Totally agree. Being able to interact socially with people who are different from you and to appreciate those differences is key in making someone a well-adjusted individual.

Then you hear crap like this and you just want to keep your kid safe.

Exactly. Beat me by a few seconds.
