I don't understand why anyone would be ticked off by Sideshow con exclusives anymore now that they have the Non-Attendee shipping system in place. It's a total non-issue now.

Anakin from AOTC ??? Who would want that whiner?:monkey4

I'm not a huge fan of how the character behaved in AOTC, but I like the costume, hair style and lightsaber of AOTC Anakin, I'd love to see a figure from this movie.

Well in the example I mentioned, I figure people may get ticked not because of availability but the potential to have an Emperor Palpatine in that package after having bought the regular ed

Because people do. They feel Con exclusives aren't fair despite SS doing it the way they do. Its been ^^^^^ed about every year I've been going to SDCC. Even with the way they do it I still think choosing a straight variant (Yavin Luke) that people can live without is the best choice.

Sideshow has one of the most accessible and convenient Con exclusive systems ever.

You want to talk about a REAL Con Exclusive Mess? Look no further than MATTEL...what a big mess that company is when it comes to anything collectible.

Few years ago they had some MOTU Exclusive, I believe it was Keldor (Skeletor's human form)...they gave out raffle tickets and then called out a certain amount (lets say 500 for example) of numbers on those tickets and then THOSE people were allowed to come forward and choose to purchase the figure or not. :banghead It's like winning a contest for a car only to find out there's still ANOTHER contest for that car...like all the radio shows do.

Nevermind first-come-first-serve...it was TOTAL luck of the draw. I remember a lot of people were pissed.

cant wait to see how they handle the new MOTU line. first 2 figures look to be con exclusives. hmmmmm. history seems to repeat itself.

LOL you also have to love that Mattel has a CHASE VARIANT FOR A CON EXCLUSIVE. :lol That is so like them.

I really have little confidence in their new MOTU line. It looks great and promising, but Mattel is SO BAD in management and distribution of collectible lines and if they don't see immediate profits, they'll drop it in no time flat.

Yeah, they are pretty bad. GG isn't easy either even though they have some for PO in a similar manner of SS. SS though does have the best route and is in a class above everyone else there.

Sideshow definitely makes things as easy as possible for just about everything related to SDCC--whether you are going or not, there are very few hoops you have to jump through to snag an exclusive item.

:duff

I don't think I've ever bought a con exclusive, there hasn't been one I've been interested in. However, from hearing others on this board Sideshow's sounds much easier than some other companies.

Is there a site where you can see all the different SDCC Exclusives from all the different companies?

Yeah, Mattel does such BS. Chases are one of the worst things to happen to figure lines. I'm afraid about Lobo. What happened for last year?

so who's going to comcon that's willing to get extras of the con exclusives for those of us that can't go for the non sideshow stuffs?

I am not sure why a lottery-style exclusive distribution is a bad thing. It cuts out the necessity for the stress of fighting to get to the line early. And it also cuts back on people stacking the line with friends who don't want the exclusive, but will buy them as extras for their friends. I am sure I can find some other pluses as well.

And Mattel is not the only ones who do that. Lego did it last year for their Batman Exclusive, and Joyride did it for their HALO exclusive. Seems like a good idea to me.

Of course, I may be missing a valid point. Help me out, y'all!

Edit - Another thing I noticed is that with the three Sideshow Exclusives 1:6 scale figures so far, they are all still readily available for reasonable prices, even on the secondary market, and the Yavin Luke's waitlist is even still available.

It does have its plusses I'm sure. I'd rather just PO my item go get it and go. SDCC is too much fun to just be standing in line.
