recasting is WRONG!!!!!! It is NOT FAIR to the buyer & most of all IT DOES NOT SHOW SIDESHOW COLLECTIBLES ANY RESPCT!!!!!!!:mad::mad:

So why are you actually applauding Ed? All he did was support a recaster and break a statue to make himself feel better.

I think as long as it is represented as a replica, it is fair to the buyer. If sideshow has stopped making the item, a reproduction could actually be considered a form of flattery or homage, as they are continuing on the line and honoring the greatness of the original piece. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I see no disrespect to Sideshow as long as the recast is made AFTER production ends. That said, Marvel, however, might be somewhat displeased about the matter. It is really Marvel comics that is losing out on this.

Except these people are making money off of something they didn't make. There's no way I'd ever agree with recasting. Sure, it MAY be making more of them available to people, but it sure as heck is hurting the aftermarket value. I don't want these out there so people don't get gipped into buying some cheaper POS when they really payed top dollar for the real Mcoy. I'll never go shopping on ebay for the IM comiquette since I know I may get screwed.

Oh, and these people aren't making these as a form of flattery, they just want to make money.

Wow. I would have to say, despite my well aired feelings on this kind of thing, that's not something I would have done. But I applaud your integrity.

The real scum are the people producing the recasts and selling them. Trying to exploit the work of someone else for their own profit.

I don't believe generic drugs are the same situation at all. Art pieces (even pop art pieces) aren't consumables that are used up and must be replenished.

Whatever, The ONLY TRUE Collectible Greatness comes from Sideshow Collectibles!!!!!! :D Not a replica of their item Someone is making & selling without Sideshow's say so!!!!!!!:D

I'm glad you are taking the stand against re-casters. Destroying the statue and displaying it will hopefully provide some inspiration to those thinking of buying a recast.

I probably would have just posted that I had a change of heart about what I had done, and then I would have had the recast repainted into some other color so it would never have been mistaken as an original. Bravo, for standing up.

Yes, any recast of any original is always second best, and often pretty poor quality. I've never bought a recast, and never will, unless it looks great and is far less than it originally cost. In the case of this Iron Man, I would pay no more than $50. Only originals have any real meaning for me.

Wow, kudos to you bro. That is one pricey statement but one I smile very brightly upon. At the end of the day there is only one person's conscience you have to sleep with and the fact that it helped clear yours a bit is truly all that matters. I applaud what you did myself, and I think anybody who has bought any type of re-cast should be sent the official "customizerwannabe re-cast destroyer" (aka- hammer). Bravo! :clap :clap
