I suppose I could post a thread. Might be a good place to have comments and suggestions.

Will those of you who have listened and liked it please repeat your kind words in that thread for me? :)

OK, this question is to everyone who has bought a Hot Toys figure that's been re-issued or had a "2.0" version had of it. Do you "honestly think that a re-issue or a 2.0 version of an older figure make it worth more (the original) or less.

To me it seems like everyone wants to dump their 1.0 version before buying their 2.0 version because they either want to cash in on the value before it drops, or I've read some claims to be doing it just because they only want one version and prefer an up-dated one.

Take for instance Robocop; even though he is in line for a re-issue, sellers are trying to get around a $1,000.00+ for the original. It was like that for the T2 T-800 (not as high), but now it's price isn't much higher than what some Hot Toys are going for brand new right now.

So what's your opinion?

If you're fine with the older version, keep it. If you think it's flawed and feel the "2.0" fixes those flaws, sell off the old and buy the new. If you missed out on the first release, buy the 2.0. Or, if you're a tightass/cheapskate, wait until it's released and the first version goes up at bargain prices and buy that.

:rotfl or you could be like me, buy every version and never sell the first version because, well, why bother with the hastle of selling something:slap

a prime example is the V1 joker. I have every joker to date, I just choose to use the Br joker head on the v1, have a br smirking joker with mask, use the v1 sculpt for the nurse...etc. I will NEVER sell T2 800 nor the T1 T800 regardless of how great the new DX is. Just me thou' I'm either stuborn or stupid, you be the judge...:cuckoo:

Nice points. As long as you collect for yourself and not try to make money off this hobby, you'll be fine.

I think I will part with my beloved T2 T-800 figure after the Dx version is purchased but keeping some accessories.

Personally I just wanted to know what other people felt, I've kept both my version of Ironman MK 1, MK II, and will be keeping my Predator 2 Pred even though I have the 2.0 on pre-order. For me it's like having a set, if you get rid of one you're kind of incomplete.

I guess I'm the same way. I keep all versions, display them differently so they're all different.

Until pretty recently it was my intention to collect every release of every character I collect. Then I realised that I just can't afford to do that anymore so now I'm either selling older versions or I'm not buying the new versions if they're not a big enough improvement. My exception is Terminator. There I pretty much keep all.

Yup, I am kinda the same. If the newer version is better than the original I will sell up and upgrade.

I just did this with Iron Man Mark 1, sold on to buy V2.
I sold my T2 to buy the new DX T2.
I sold my Batsuit Begins to but Enterbay Batman Begins.
I sold my original P2 to fund the next P2.

I don't buy figures as an investment, I buy them for joy and geekyness. :)

Ive done this with the Marvel Hot Toys figures.

Sold the Iron Man Mark III to buy the Mark III BD
Sold the Mark III BD to get the Mark IV
Now I sold the Mark IV to get the Mark VII

Sold the Cap First Avenger to get Avengers Cap....

Seems to be a viscious cycle and one Im done doing after the Avengers. Ill have those versions and just going to stick with them.

Sold off my DX01 and DX02 after the DX11 and 12 were announced as well.

I usually like to still to 1 figure per character rule, unless its one of my Top 5 characters where I might end up with multiples.

I am getting the DX10, but I havent sold my MMS117 yet because I have him on the bike with shades, and my plan is to use the DX10 as the Cyber-dyne shoot out with mini gun and no shades (to showcase the PERS on the figure) and which he will be on my "Top 10" Shelf.

But once HT gets around to doing the Battle Damaged T2 Steel Mill version, I dont know what I will end up doing with the DX10, since the BD would go in its spot and Im not really sure if I need THREE different T2 T-800's in my collection...

I recently-ish sold my MMS71 to fund the DX12.

I skipped the DX02 as it just was too soon and i didn't feel the need to get it or upgrade.

That was the only figure i've upgraded to another from.

But overall i feel it undermines the collectibility of the original both in aftermarket pricing and more importantly removes that unique extra special feeling you get from the figure as it has become one of two (or more) rather than a one-of-a-kind

So i'm not a fan of 2.0's or rereleases as it not only isn't where time and resources shoud be spent but it 'damages' previous figures too.

well my love for transformers masterpieces means my small collection of HT figures are now all gone! italian stallion rocky,EX BD iron man,dx01 and 02 and dutch all gone via ebay in the last two weeks!

flightpack robocop and EX predator1 up for auction now! regrets??? maybe soon, but i figured apart from rocky, they can all be replaced with newer versions i.e dx12,new robo on the way so feck it.

I'm biased of course but I think all 3 of those looks for the T2 T-800 are worth having. They're all images of Arnie and Terminator that everyone remembers. However if you don't want any part of your collection looking too samey then 3 Arnies in top-to-bottom black leather might be pushing it.

I don't know yet if i'll go for the DX T800 but if i do i'll be keeping the MMS as the T2 T800 can have so many iconic poses that having multiples is imo more valid than other characters.

I'd like a shelf of poses...

On Fatboy
Galleria
I'd like Cyberdyne building
Steel mill
