A new HT line based on real people?

Another new 1/6th product line announcement in Jan. - In this new line, all characters are real persons who are very famous and rememberable. We believe that you could recognize them from the first sight. The first character with product images will be available end of Jan, so don’t miss it and keep an eye on www.HotToys.com.hk.

Musicians? Not sports, surely? I really have no ideas.

Hmmm, sports could be cool. I'd love to see a Michael Jordan figure using their muscular body.

Maybe they're just going to have their military lines based more on actual soldiers instead of generic characters?

They're rolling out some fine stuff lately, so I'm curious to see what this is about.

Interesting. I don't know how all the licensing stuff works but they could probably offer a variety of different people from many professions. Could be famous people down thru time too.

I wonder if they might be famous actors like Clint Eastwood or Steve McQueen? A couple months back I sent Hot Toys an email, asking them if they would ever consider making figures of famous actors.

Musicians would of course be an interesting line, but one has to wonder what their target audience will be. Will it be geared toward a global audience, a primarily Western one, or an Asian one? I think a line of famous actors would be the most interesting, and would likely yield a nice selection of head sculpts that could be used for customs. Mel Gibson, Clint Eastwood, Steve McQueen, Harrison Ford, Peewee Herman.... the list is practically endless.

It will be interesting to see what they have in mind. I'm especially looking forward to seeing their Video Games Masterpiece Series really take off. There's tons of potential waiting to be realized in that line alone!

Adolph and his goons are already covered by several military 1:6 makers. I'm hoping this new line is not military, since those people are (mostly) already being done. (We still need a nice Winston Churchill, since Drastic Plastic never got around to him when they did Hitler and Roosevelt.)

Well, there are plenty of exciting possibilities to choose from famous "real" people...like world leaders, Nobel Prize winners, composers, poet laureates, even architects! What's not to like?
