I was born in the early 80's so growing up for me was mainly GIjoe, Transformers, Starcom, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Gundam kits. Sadly, I don't have any them left as my parents gave them away to my cousin as I grew older......my cousin on the other hand never got to play with them because my aunt's a psycho and kept them in storage till he was older and then sold them all! :gah::slap:mad:

I never had the sewer playset from TMNT :( but i used to make my own with a cardboard box tipped on its side , i had the sewer cover opening and tunnels leading to other rooms , it was awesome :yess: i had beds / table for pizza time , etc , it seems so long ago :monkey2

For me it was Star Wars, then GI Joe. These were the two main ones for me. MOTU was up there as well. I always liked Transformers and had a few, but when it came down to making a choice of what I wanted for birthdays, allowance money, etc - GI Joe always came out on top.

Oh, and LEGO was huge for me too.

Others came and went. I remember really liking Sectaurs and Dino Riders when they came out, but neither of them had the staying power of the other ones. I remember liking my little brothers' TMNT and ____ Tracy figures, too.

The Colorforms Outer Spacemen Collection....

If I'd realized as a kid how much these would be worth today, I would have locked them all up in a bank vault.

I love the Colrforms Outer Space Men, they were before my time, Im a child of the 80's, but had to collect the set.
BTW, so sorry about the dust

It's funny - you can get a real sense of members' ages by their answers.

I also really loved these monster things that came in a little toy garbage bag or something and you'd drop it in water and it would dissolve to reveal the toy (which was a toy similar to Monsters in my Pocket, just one colour nothing). Does anybody remember the name of them?

I didn't like the toy itself but I was fascinated by how it the whole dissolving process.

Grosby, I remembered them too and did some searching which lead me right back to this forum for the answer, check it out.

This were sooooooo cool!

Anyone remember these Pigs that came with military equipment like M-16s and army helmets?

Or the Food Fight figures that were the same concept except like with Burgers and Hot Dogs fighting each other.

Can anyone help me out with the names of those? especially the pigs.

^^ that specific MASK toy was one of my favorites. Some of my best toy memories as a child were actually associated with Easter rather than Christmas (I would get one or two toys for Easter), and I got that figure and Superion (gestalt Transformer made up of the Arialbots) for Easter holidays I remember vividly.

I had both Gobots and Transformers and played with them for years never knowing they weren't the same thing. I always wondered why I never saw any of the Gobots in the Transformers cartoons and none of the Transformers in Gobots cartoons.

I had a couple of Centurions (green guy and the red cyborg enemy) as well as the Sectaur guy Wofford posted above, and the lava creature from Crystar (though not the main good guy), which was a very excellent toy. He was a nigh invulnerable opponent to my GI Joes.

Anybody remember the blue/orange alien who looked sort of like a human on one side of his body, but like a complete monster on the other side? You could twist his torso around, and flip a switch on his waist, and he would "transform" from one to the other. I can't remember what he was called, but there were lots of memorable ads for them in mid-80s comics.

Man this is one of the best threads I've seen in a while. I'd forgotten how kick arse toys were in the 80s and early 90s. Do any of you remember Dino riders and the bionic six.
They were pretty cool toys as well.
