I have no idea why Activision would even bother with this threat, its not like their big name games like Call of Duty and Guitar Hero don't sell at all on PlayStation and unless other companies were publicly talking about doing the same this makes no sense. Limiting themselves to the Wii and 360 could easily jeopardize their spot as number 1 3rd party publisher. It was the constant turning out of Call of Duty and Guitar Hero games that finally pushed them above EA.

Its also funny that Activision are demanding a price drop when they are insistant that games now need peripherals. Guitar Hero you need a guitar or a full band kit, DJ Hero you need a turn table, now Tony Hawk needs a skateboard. These all cost alot more for consumers to buy then regular games.

They will change their tune when the PS3 slim comes out and the PS3 starts selling more units. Sony are not cutting the price on the PS3 now because they are focused on profit. When they are ready to clear the current model the price will go down.

Yeah because we all know CEO's know nothing about business and making money. They just fell into the job. The higher ups at Activision don't know what they are doing. They are just winging it...

Oh yeah CEOs have great track records, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, BofA, Enron, AIG... CEO's are all quite talented at ultimately lining their own and their buddies pockets and covering their own ***** I will give them that. They fall into these jobs by exploiting every policy possible and stepping on, backstabbing everyone possible their whole lives. Forgive me if I dont give them the respect they deserve lol.

Whatever the code is for that teacher smilie is, it needs to go here. That's a really good point.

I too, don't see how a price cut will help Sony. I mean, isn't the PS3 already selling at a loss? Slashing by $50 is really pushing it...
there are tons of people that would cave for a ps3 if they dropped the price, the units aint selling now at 400, you dont think selling more units will help them, they need to throw us a bone...i WAS a ps2 fan and wanted the ps3 , but they priced it to high for an entartainment unit...

i think it's funny how people complain about the price of the PS3, when not even the 360 Elite has the functionality and versatility of the lowest end model PS3.

add to the fact you have to pay-to-play, and HAVE to buy a wireless adaptor, the 360 ends up being considerably more expensive.

QFT. In a price comparison, the lowest end PS3 model does offer more of a bang for the buck, than the 360 Elite. Online play is free on the PSN, the PS3 consoles are wireless out of the box, and the PS3s have a built-in Blue Ray Player. If someone's not interested in buying a PS3 now, I don't believe that they ever will be interested.

Even if the all models of the PS3 faced a $50 price-cut, hypothetically, people will still complain that the prices are too expensive. Honestly, there's no satisfying some individuals :lol.

The problem is the un informed buying public see the price tags on the consoles they don't see all the other costs that add up to make the PS3 a better deal. And Activision is all about appealing to the largest number of people possible, they don't care about quality they care about money. Take Guitar Hero Smash Hits for example it has 45 songs that have been featured in all the old games just now master tracks and full band play. It doesn't support any World Tour DLC, it will never have DLC. But it costs the same as Guitar Hero 5 will and that game will feature 85 New Songs will have DLC and will support World Tour DLC.

For Activision this is all about what it costs to develop for the PS3 and what they get back out of it. They figure if Sony drops their price they will get more systems into the market and then Activision can sell more games to offset the cost of the development even more.

In the end of the day they may be the number 1 third party developer but they really have no right to ask anything from anyone. They constantly ask the consumer to pay a higher price for less. They keep pushing more and more peripherals they are making gaming expensive.

Incorrect. You do not HAVE to buy a wireless adaptor to connect the 360 to the internet; you can simply plug it in via the ethernet port. But you're correct that a wireless network adaptor isn't standard; it has to be purchased separately if you decide you want a wireless connection.
