Justin, one thing to look at is, at the top of his shoulder, don't keep the velcro pieces in exact alignment, on my Piett I just positioned the shoulder flap where I felt it would look best and helped the collar and then I pressed the velcro closed from there. If you line it up exactly it doesn't work, but it still holds just fine if you don't and make the shirt look right.

Just a few pictures of my Admiral Piett.

Page 2 :nono! This guy is awesome, very cool and to me the likeness is there. I went with the plastic cap for Praji but cloth looks great on Piett. Maybe I'll try and go back and "sculpt" the hat for Praji ala the water treatment?

Got mine today, great figure in my opinion. I can see the resemblance to Piett.

I am going to swap the boots out, futz the hat and uniform and then take a few pictures.

I am really glad I picked this one up.

The Admiral and my Praji both arrived on the same day. So here are some pics of both of them together on their new shelf with the stormies.. since they couldn't all fit on the other shelf. And then some pics of the other shelf, with vader/obi, r2/3po and han/luke/leia. Also of note is that i just changed my a new hope han onto a true type narrow shoulder. I love it, and it looks SO much better than the sickly pale han i had before. The clothes fit better, and he just looks so much more badass! One of my favorite figures now that i swapped out the old horrid head for the new stormtrooper han head.
Now i just have to figure out what i'm gonna swap the luke head onto to make him short and fit in those clothes.. hmm..

Overall, i really dig both of the officers. I think they are wonderful. Huge thanks to superdoug for hooking me up with praji!

This one, yes, the other 2 not as much, it's a tricky balance of lighting. Maybe if the sculpt were different some of the defining features would show under any lighting, but as it is, I find it takes certain lighting to really bring out the Piett in the sculpt.

Expectations are really high because that looks damn good to me.

Looking back at SS Anakin and some others is an interesting experience -- amazing what we've come to expect in such a short amount of time.

It's sort of like the 1995 3 3/4" SW figures and then jumping to 97-98 and on versions that were so much better scaled...and it continued.

I think expectation has to do with reaction.

Now, I say I don't see the Piett likeness in every lighting condition, but I see it and I'm happy with the figure in the end.

There are people that seem to be unaccepting of that and it either blatantly looks like a 3D photo of the actor or it's no good.

I appreciate the quality in the portraits that have that photo-realism, but I don't devalue others either. No matter what, all these portraits are way beyond the old Hasbro stuff and offer a realism I thought would only be a dream.

So you're saying our pictures look awesome. Pretty much, right? :lol

Thanks Sean (especially coming from you) but seriously the figures we are getting lately (and I exclude Han & Luke SDCC for their poor paint apps) have been pretty nice. We have come a long way since the days of lipstick Anakin on the Buck. Piett is very nice and even cooler futzed. I don't know what is "missing" from his portrait to make him look more like the actor.

I don't know, I know when I look at the portrait, for me what's missing in certain lighting is his face almost looks healthy and normal, and I've got Piett burnt in my mind as always looking sickly. Any lighting that really brings out the bags around his eyes and defines the eyelids more really brings out that sickly look. Maybe it's more a matter of a paint job that would define those areas under light that doesn't. The head is pretty flat as far as the flesh, the same tone all over, a little darker her or lighter there could help out. Real people have uneven skintones.

I do fine Piett's one of the best figures of late, paint's nice and clean, costume looks great, body choice was right for the character. Between Han in Carbonite, Vader and now Piett, I've been adding some great stuff from Sideshow this summer.
