Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

Finally! Can't wait to see an actual Marvel character from the comics. Hopefully they come up with a decent design for him.

I thought SHIELD was an off the books sort of thing and that was why no one has ever heard of them.

Not so sure about "off the books" so much as new. Seemed like it was brand spanking new in IM1 when Coulson introduces himself to Tony and Pepper. :lol

And its possible after the events in the Avengers SHIELD had to come out of the shadows. People on this show certainly have heard of SHIELD by now at least. But yeah, I agree with Nam. I think what they do exactly (just like most government agencies) is relatively unknown to the public. You get what their purpose is, but not exactly what they do to go about doing it.

The one thing that still bugs me about Iron Man 3 is the total lack of SHIELD. I know they got a lot of backlash from so much SHIELD/Avengers build in up Iron Man 2, but SHIELD was a constant presence in both IM 1 and 2 and the complete lack of it in IM3 was jarring. Especially when a terrorist is making threats directly at the president. I would have thought SHIELD would maybe have an interest in that. So I hope they explain a bit of that in Captain America 2 because I think Cap's lack of presence or mention as well was odd - especially with them really pushing Iron Patriot. Its like they were trying to appeal to that Captain America patriotic angle, but yet try not to mention him at the same time.

I guess its just the inconsistency of SHIELD's portrayal in all of these different movies and TV shows is the problem. They are secret, but the they aren't. They meddle with everything and then nothing. I just wish they'd dump the kindergarten agents and deal more with the higher ups. I'm hoping Maria Hill is at least a regular next year now that How I Met Your Mother will be over. That could help a bit. As much as I'd like Fury to be a regular, I don't see SLJ wanting to be tied down so much to the show. A few appearances a season would be great though.

Everyone hated IM2 because of too much Shield.

That's the reason I enjoyed it so much. :lol

No Shield in IM3 and Thor 2 was rather depressing for me. :lol

I get that they want to save the big team up for A2, but i'm impatient.

Cap 2 looks to show there's a war/power struggle brewing inside SHIELD which would explain their absence in both IM3 and Dark World. It fits in nicely with the tv series too as with the exception of the occasional interference, it looks like Coulson's team has carte blanche with little to no penalties for blatant insubordination (i.e. the SHIELD bigwigs are far too busy with the big, important **** for it to matter). :lol

Didn't they tell Tony that Howard Stark was a SHIELD founder?

Anyways, Stan lee is on tonights episode, does anyone know when Paxton's run starts, because its not on IMDB yet. :(

Did they? Or are you mixing that up with the Avengers Initiative?

Maybe that is what I'm thinking of. I think it was IM2 which is pretty much the bottom of my watch list for the modern MCU. In the entire time I've had the BR I think its been watched once, compared to IM1 which is uncountable and even the much newer IM3 which I've probably already rewatched 5 or 6 times. :lol

Yup. Out of the 8 Marvel Studio films so far, IM2 gets ranked right above TIH which is in dead last.

He helped found it yeah. At the end of the Agent Carter One shot she's asked to help head up SHIELD with Howard Stark.

Okay, then it did manage to stay secret for decades, then suddenly start branding its own bottled water. :lol

Those water bottles look stupid.

I really though last night's episode was full of good moments and kept me guessing. One of the better episodes this season.
