Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

Interesting...even though it was already speculated and where I was hoping this was going with Mike Peterson.

Viewers of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD have been wondering when the show will introduce some true Marvel superheroes into the mix, and it was revealed today that the answer is very soon - in fact, we've already met one.

During a visit to the set of the show, I was among a group of journalists shown footage from an upcoming episode, which revealed Mike Peterson (J. August Richards) is being transformed into the super cyborg Deathlok. It's a longtime payoff for the identity of Richards' character, which had been the subject of discussion since he was first said to be in the pilot of SHIELD early last year. However, his character, Mike Peterson, was ultimately not anyone familiar from Marvel Comics, ending early speculation he was going to turn out to be Luke Cage or someone else recognizable.

However, some fans did ponder if a Deathlok reveal was coming, after we last saw Mike in a very bad state - burnt, missing a leg and with a cybernetic eye implant, after he was caught in an explosion. And indeed, that's exactly who it turns out he will become - a character that works with a previously-unknown alter-ego, given the Deathlok identity has been used for several different people in Marvel comics and is not closely identified with one character. Perhaps the most notable incarnation (certainly the one who had the longest running title of his own) is Mike Collins, the Deathlok introduced in the 1990s, so having Mike Peterson be Deathlok on the series still works as a nice nod to that history.

Deathlok's introduction to Agents of SHIELD is the latest in a series of reveals about Marvel characters coming to the series, including Bill Paxton's four-episode arc as SHIELD agent John Garrett (first seen in the Elektra: Assassin miniseries) and a guest appearance from Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, from the Thor films.

Peterson's Deathlok debuts in the next Agents of SHIELD episode. We were shown a clip today of Bill Paxton’s character asking, "Tell us about cybertech and the Deathlok program." Game over man, game over!

We also learned more about Lady Sif’s return. She’ll be visiting Midgard because she’s hunting the Thor villain Lorelei. We were shown a fun fight scene between the two Asgardian goddesses, and it was also revealed that Elena Satine (Smallville) is playing Lorelei.

One of my favorite Marvel heroes! I even got bent when they essentially turned War Machine into him in the comics even copying over the whole promise of a body return. :lol

One of my favourites from the late 70's and early 80's as well. I'll have to dig my ML fig of him out from the back of the shelf and display him with pride now. :hi5:

Here's one of my favourite Cap covers (I'll have to dig that out of storage now too).

I read this over on Wikipedia's listing yesterday and was scratching my head thinking someone was goofing around.
It'll make the show much more interesting. This is not a complaint, but he's not exactly what I imagine when I think of Shield. John Garrett acting as a substitute for Nick Fury would do better for the show imo.

It also helps that I think Skye is a hottie. :lol

And does quite a bit of running. :lecture

I prefer Simmons, I wish they'd get her running around the show in tight revealing clothing too.
