I was hoping that the Cover Girls line would have the Supergirl on asteroid but it never happened. :(

Me too. It was supposed to have that Supergirl pose as a statue. I'll try to make a long story short...

Before I joined the other forum, a fan sculpted the Supergirl statue for fun. It wasn't even finished or painted. A few people were saying that they wanted kits even though the sculptor wasn't taking requests or making kits. Adam Hughes' wife was posting then and said something like DC Direct wasn't going to make the statue because of that. Even though the statue was never made or going to be made into a kit. I think some legal threats were even made. I believe Adam Hughes himself wanted to get the guy that sculpted his Emma Frost for Sideshow to do Supergirl since he was working with DC Direct. The whole thing was crazy and blown way out of proportion. The Supergirl statue we got from DC Direct was no where near as classic as the original image. I think the fan ended up destroying his Supergirl statue too. Pretty sad situation.

I had a setup planned for the statue from DC Direct and everything. It's still possible now at a larger scale from Sideshow. And since they are fans should release her. But many times I have no clue what's going on at Sideshow.

Come on, Savior, as if that needed "mentioning". Do you honestly think nobody would have "realized"? It's an instantly recognizable face. :)

I didn't realize that Catwoman was based/inspired by Audrey originally. I knew there was something familiar but I couldn't place it. Then Adam Hughes confirmed it on his Deviant Art page. It was a big realization moment for me.

Anyway, I don't see why Sideshow, DC or whoever has a problem going full out with the Audrey inspiration anymore. Did you guys see this Galaxy chocolate ad that just came out?

That is just plain ridiculous. Fan art is NOT illegal, and my opinion of Hughes just hit the dirt. Him, his wife.... both of them, if the alleged wife wasn't him posting under a pseudonym to begin with. Way to tarnish the fan-artist's enjoyment of the hobby.

I noticed it right away. I was like, "Wow, ain't that nice - Catwoman and Audrey: glamour upon glamour!" :inlove I SO would like a nice bust, PF, whatever. Even the LSF I'd have found irresistible had they gone that way and would be mine day one.

Anyway, I don't see why Sideshow, DC or whoever has a problem going full out with the Audrey inspiration anymore. Did you guys see this Galaxy chocolate ad that just came out?

Simple: Sideshow just don't want to pay the Audrey Hepburn Estate. That would eat up a large chunk of their profit.

@ Drakul: anytime now. :lol

Adam Hughes has a pretty rotten rep in a lot of artistic circles. Not his skills, but as a person. Rude isn't even close to the word I have heard used, and having met him twice I do not doubt his bad reputation. Even if he was offering his art for free I wouldn't go near him.

I've met him about 4-5 times and he is about the rudest artist I have ever talked with. You see him at a convention, and he looks like he would rather be anywhere else in the world and he barely speaks to the fans that go up to meet him. Talk about someone who sure needs a kick in his a$$.

I don't even bother anymore going to his booth anytime I see he will be at a con I'm going to.

I've heard this a lot, but meh... It's the same with actors, I don't care about their personality IRL, it's all about their craft, because that's all I'm interested in.

I love his Catwoman, and I love his artwork. It's no requirement of mine that he's polite.

Wasn't his wife on these boards for a while? Then when the AH Mystique came people were criticizing the art for the piece and she got upset and never came back?

That's a shame if that's the reason. Which I guess it is now after seeing the Galaxy chocolate ad. It's crazy to decide to make a statue of a character an artist is known for, then have the artist change the look to something people aren't used to seeing. That's why I think it would have been better to go with Power Girl or Supergirl for a Hughes LSF first. Sideshow had to know they weren't going to pay the fee for Audrey's likeness. Or at the very least look into it before starting the Catwoman LSF project.

I guess we'll see what she looks like at SDCC again or if she goes up for pre-order soon.

I've only seen Adam Hughes in a few interviews. He seems ok to me. I know the whole scalping of his artwork had to have an effect on him. To see "fans" come up and ask for a character only for it to be on eBay hours later. I remember the days when Hughes sketches weren't going for much at all. Like that Supergirl remarked print. He does eBay auctions only now for his sketches and I don't think he's done those in a while since he's working on Watchmen.

In interviews he is charming and nice and presetable because a lot of people will see it. In person he was so rude that when I saw him the third time I steered my kid away from him like he was the Boogyman ... Lol. I know that eBay scalping is the reason his wife has given for his piss poor attitude, and for the fact he apparent wont do commissions persay. Deciding to put his OWN work up on eBay to get the profit. She pretty much went on a huge rant about it a few years ago.

Yeah there was a thread on the other forum about how it was the straw that broke the camel's back or something like that. I would be upset too if I charged $100 for something and saw a person flipping it for $1000. That's money out of your pocket. When you meet a lot of people that are liars it can change you whether you want it to or not.

You know another thing I wish they would add on this Catwoman LSF is the hair peeking out of her cap. A lot of artists draw her with it. It adds some fun to the character.

I met Adam in Pasadena, California at a comic convention and managed to get a sketch from him.

He was nothing but nice to me as we talked while he drew my sketch, he's a pretty funny guy.

Everyone standing around his table enjoyed themselves.

That's my experience with AH! and it was a good one.

Well I am glad you had a great experience. It is always nice to hear about a great experience.

He keeps quiet accept when he is rude at a convention, and she picks all the fights and gets indignant if anyone so much as questions his work.

My question is, how hot is she.? Can she back her attitude up with her looks or is she your typical prized pig that can't keep their mouth shut?
