I hope the flippers are loving ebay recently, the prints on there are are doing ____ and just sitting there or getting zero bids :yess:

Haha hell yea. Some of it has to do with the lackluster posters for this SDCC but I got the two I really wanted so I am happy.

Just placed my order in for the olly moss print. If by some miracle I get that ticket I'm asking for Harry Potter poster :rock

Aaaaand the numbers are in...

@MondoNews: Looks like the Olly Moss THE DARK KNIGHT RISES poster will be an edition of 9,350. Thanks everyone!

Now we wait and see if this experiment yields any decent results.

You guys are thinking about this all wrong... these open edition prints could completely backfire.

It allows mondo to double dip in profits. They're STILL going to do very limited runs, and now they have a second VERY SUCCESSFUL outlet to still make profits off of thousands more fans by selling an inferior duplicate (smaller sized prints) compared to the original run that is the normal 24x32" size.

Bull____ if you ask me.

I'd have to agree... basically charging a similar price for a cheaper product.

Part of the draw of these is owning a fairly limited piece of art.

First things first. It's not like Mondo and Moss are taking the $40 per poster and running to the bank laughing. I can all but guarantee the studio is getting most of it.

Secondly, I personally don't care if they do a few drops like this a year. I would think that more than a few of these 9k+ people are first time buyers. They might like it and get hooked. New life in the hobby makes your prints more wanted and more valuable.

Lastly, I would really hate to be the guy that has to number 9,350 posters and tube them. I think I'd rather be a fry cook at that point :lol

Batty, as much as it sucks if you're thinking about getting Princess Mononoke I would do it now. This is "the flood" once they are in collectors hands they will be hit or miss driving the prices up. I don't think they will get as high as totoro since there are more, but I would think that they will go higher. Very nice looking poster IMO, but I'm no fan thankfully. I ponied up and bought a creature print aftermarket on the cheap. Hopefully you can find a decent deal too. Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if he continues the series. He's done a nice job on both of them so far.

I think it is BS. I hate to agree with nash but it is bs.

The print is ok. But why go smaller ? Why not do a variant at the con and a regular size release for the world like this ?

Why shrink it?

I did not buy it and I am a Bat fanatic.

Just seemed like a bone with the marrow already gone.

I would doubt that... they are a business afterall and few would do anything that was not profitable in the end for them. There is close to $400K on the table from this sale; I imagine they are getting a hefty chunk of that.

And I don't fault them for it, gotta make money when you can. But producing a piece like this seems out of character and personally I'd have no interest in owning a lesser print of something I missed out on.
