I would doubt that... they are a business afterall and few would do anything that was not profitable in the end for them. There is close to $400K on the table from this sale; I imagine they are getting a hefty chunk of that.

And I don't fault them for it, gotta make money when you can. But producing a piece like this seems out of character and personally I'd have no interest in owning a lesser print of something I missed out on.

I never said they aren't making dough. I'm sure they are and I'm sure with 9k+ it will be a lot. But, they are not making $40 a poster was my point. I would think after the studio fees and cost to make and print the poster they would be around 10 bucks a poster maybe. 90k is not a bad days work for sure!

I didn't buy it for the same reason. I have no desire for a non limited poster that still costs $40 bucks + ship. My point was though, there are tons of batman fans. There are also tons of people that strike out on mondo drops weekly. If you ever check their FB page people whine and complain for something like this often. It was something set up for the fans that weren't able to get to the con and so they could still get a Moss poster albeit lesser than the original. The saying goes something is better than nothing. Since I have no interest in it, I have no problems with it, and really have no clue what people are up in arms about. I don't know what type of variant you could spin on the poster. Its pretty bland as is unless you want him in pink tights with a support breast cancer awareness pin ribbon on him. :lol

Believe me there are quite a few things that mondo does that annoys the hell outta me. Mostly, Austin only events where there is no chance for web drops. They really alienate their fans when have site only drops.

Flipping the 9K release :lol

Jeez people (Especially Nolanites) are idiots :lol :lol

Yup, ridiculous since everyone could get one.

I think it is BS. I hate to agree with nash but it is bs.

The print is ok. But why go smaller ? Why not do a variant at the con and a regular size release for the world like this ?

Why shrink it?

I did not buy it and I am a Bat fanatic.

Just seemed like a bone with the marrow already gone.

I just bought this DKR print to to get in on the experiment, but I agree with ya, it still should have been the standard 24x36, but with a color change or something to tell it apart from the SDCC version

I'd rather pay 40 bucks for an inch less for a major release compared to 800 bucks on eBay. Smaller prints equals more prints on the wall for less money.

I passed on this because of the size. 16x24 is not a readily available frame size, so it would require expensive custom framing. If it had been 18x24, I would have considered it, because you can get those frames off the shelf. I just wasn't in love with it enough to purchase a 16x24 that would probably never get custom framed.

Yes. Mondo has failed so miserably that they managed to pull in $347,000 in 24 hours...

But seriously now.

I pulled the trigger and bought a Princess Mononke off eBay... I still don't feel right about it.

Now I'm going to go ahead and ask for help when Spirited Away drops so I don't have to go the eBay route again.

hopefully that one won't be at some con or house event

I know that even if it went up as a regular sale I wouldn't be able to get one. :(

I am glad I bought Princess Mononoke now rather than later. Praxitas is right about prices only going up on it. Just checking today I saw that a few have gone for $300.
