I would doubt that... they are a business afterall and few would do anything that was not profitable in the end for them. There is close to $400K on the table from this sale; I imagine they are getting a hefty chunk of that.
And I don't fault them for it, gotta make money when you can. But producing a piece like this seems out of character and personally I'd have no interest in owning a lesser print of something I missed out on.
I never said they aren't making dough. I'm sure they are and I'm sure with 9k+ it will be a lot. But, they are not making $40 a poster was my point. I would think after the studio fees and cost to make and print the poster they would be around 10 bucks a poster maybe. 90k is not a bad days work for sure!
I didn't buy it for the same reason. I have no desire for a non limited poster that still costs $40 bucks + ship. My point was though, there are tons of batman fans. There are also tons of people that strike out on mondo drops weekly. If you ever check their FB page people whine and complain for something like this often. It was something set up for the fans that weren't able to get to the con and so they could still get a Moss poster albeit lesser than the original. The saying goes something is better than nothing. Since I have no interest in it, I have no problems with it, and really have no clue what people are up in arms about. I don't know what type of variant you could spin on the poster. Its pretty bland as is unless you want him in pink tights with a support breast cancer awareness pin ribbon on him.

Believe me there are quite a few things that mondo does that annoys the hell outta me. Mostly, Austin only events where there is no chance for web drops. They really alienate their fans when have site only drops.
