Good morning people!

So some early morning good news...

FRONTLINE HUDSON SCULPT TO BE MADE AVAILABLE!

Lonnie got back to me this morning and said that he expects the Hudson sculpt out of the mold and ready to ship by this coming Monday!

That's great news -- especially since I'm using Hudson's head for Hicks and now have no head for Hudson.

Alright -- that is all.

Do you have a link to the Hudson head for order. Will it be painted?

I called a vendor about those same sleeves and he said they would not work for Vasquez. Too large. I'm still curious about them though. They sure look like they'd work. Problem is, they are rubber which means you can't paint them.
i bet they would be too bg for Vas. i have a pair of those arm "sleeves" on a custom Mike Douglas from Falling Down and they're a bit big on his DML arms.

Hello all,
New to the board. Just wondering if anyone has ever done business with https://www.thirdzone.com/. Bought a Ripley from them and have not heard anything since 03/06/07. Only put down 15%. Just want to make sure I don't miss out if I got a bum deal. Thanks.

QUESTION: what are the "beads" all about?[/QUOTE]

Those beads look like "ranger beads" to me; you slide the beads up the string during mountaineering/land navigation to count off 100 meter intervals (or whatever your pace count is) as you progress from one point to the other.

These most definitely look like "Ranger" beads, which is a little strange, seeing as how Drake is a Marine...(Force Recon perhaps?) Anyway, the beads he wore in the film looked a lot more elaborate than these! It was hard to see them very clearly, but they looked more like "juju" beads, some kind of charm necklace to me... maybe Hot Toys assumed they were Ranger beads...?

Can anyone post some decent closeup pix of Drake's beads from the movie?

FYI - There are Drones (workers) and Warriors who protect the Queen.

I'm not sure where the term 'drone' was first coined for the xenomorphs, but as pjam said, there was no distinction made in the first movie, since the communal insect idea hadn't been suggested yet. Anyway, drones are male bees without stingers that produce no honey. Their primary function is to "service" the queen. (heh-heh)

Vaz: "Bees, man. Bees have hives!"
Hudson: "You know what I mean."
:lecture :emperor

On that premise, since the aliens appeared to be more ant-like, the warriors would NOT be drones, and the somewhat different-looking aliens in the queen's chamber could be either workers or drones, or both. But who knows...they're freakin' aliens, right?

Aside from that, "drone" is kind of a cool sounding word. It also means "a parasitic loafer" = (Carter J. Burke), and a remote-controlled mechanism, such as a radio-controlled airplane or boat. Guess it would work for the robot sentries then. :lol

Yeah. Same pace counters. It was Army Rangers and SFs that started calling 'em "Ranger beads". Btw, I didn't mean to imply they're used exclusively by army grunts!
Guess I should have rephrased that before I posted it...it does sound weird. (duh)

The concept of two different castes in the Aliens hive heirarchy first appeared in the novelization of Aliens by Alan Dean Foster. If memory serves me correctly there was a physical difference between the two types. I don't recall any other time in Alien related movies, books, or comics where the concept of drones and warriors appeared.

You must be right about that. I read both novelizations by Foster many years ago, but I don't happen to recall the descriptions you mentioned. I'd always just assumed they were all basically "warrior" types, until I saw what I thought looked to be different ones (maybe "worker" types) in the egg chamber scenes in Aliens.

I recall reading "Aliens" shortly after the movie was released and that was the first time I realized the theatrical release must have been shortened from the original script, not unlike the first movie was. That was an enjoyable read, btw! I was so glad when the special edition finally came out with all of the cut scenes restored. It makes the whole story more coherent and loads more fun, especially Hudson's speech on the dropship...priceless! :rotfl

I tried to find the book on Amazon, even a used copy, but no luck. I'm sure I've still got my old copy around here somewhere, but I'm too lazy to hunt for it. :D

I love that movie

How do you go about grabbing screen shots from DVDs?

can you reccomend one to me? and also where to get it?

Here's some shots of our boy Drake with his... uh... "Ranger" beads. :lol

Uh...thanks for the pix. Looks like there's a lot more junk on there than just the (ahem) "Ranger" beads.... so I'll just go on calling 'em "juju" beads, like before. :rotfl Btw, did ya check out the wings on Vasquez? Her arms look almost as big as Hudson's. Her chest is also a lot bigger than Hot Toys gave her credit for... I wonder how long it'll be before someone finds another figure to stick her head onto...:D
