Pretty much as expected. Drake looks fine to me, Hudson will need a FL head, no doubt about it. Ripley might need a FL head too but it looks like the HT HS is there. I wonder what the amazing Figure Master Les can do with her because it might be better to repaint her than get a new FL head and repaint that, time will tell. Lonnie is doing a Ripley and Hudson HS, right Wor-Gar?

In any case I'm all in. :D

That's what he said last I know. I've checked in with him but no update yet.

I like Hudson's outfit, especially the "contents under pressure" gag on the back. Also like Drake's rubber arms. I wish they did that for Vasquez.

GUYS, GUYS, GUYS !!!!
This is the HOT TOYS Ripley 12" to go along with the marines that came out. I saw her at Comic-con and man was she more beautiful in person.

These figures look great!
Drake looks especially good, but I wouldn't expect the production figure to have that type of paint apps.
Ripley's likeness seems to be there somewhere, but a repaint is a must.
Time to start nagging HT about proto to production ratio.

Anyway, can't wait to have these three figures.

Set looks good. I think Ripley is closest. Sigourney has some interesting features that no mass produced paint is gonna catch. Just too subtle. But, this is better than the others to me.
Drake is off hair color wise. If it was considerably lighter, and he had tons of freckles....he'd be there. Red head!
Hudson? Not sure WHO that is, but he doesn't look like Paxton as painted.
Could be another miss like Apone.

That's comforting to hear your thoughts about Ripley, Les. :D I really don't want to go through a whole FL deal if I don't have to so you know she'll be coming your way at some point!

As far as Hudson, I see no alternative... to Lonnie we go!

Not me. I'll take the exposed joints anyday over those rubber arms.

I guess I'll have to switch mine over to a new body once it arrives. :monkey3

Looks like Ripley has a T-shirt underneath her jacket, so I'll be hunting for a leather bomber jacket very soon. Any suggestions on which one to get?

I think it's fixable. For a start, Sigourney Weaver has brown eyes. Here's a five-minute Photoshop tweak. I've darkened the hair, thinned the outer eyebrows, made the irises brown, lightened the pink inner eyelids and lips, removed the lashes and shaded the upper and lower eyelids. The very things Les does with a brush and acrylic paint.

The sculpt has captured that pouty lower mouth thing she has. Can't tell from the photos whether the nose is small and pointy enough. Seems a tad large. I wonder if this has been intentionally thrown off? Did Sigourney Weaver not wish to cooperate?

I like the sculpt very much, it's just the painted eye lashes and the eyes being a bit Hot-Toys-y. When you get down to it, it's really only the painted eye lashes that bring me down -- but that's how the Japanese like their girlies.

Yes indeed gdb, same with Vas. Still, I'll have my Rip HS repainted, she is far too important a piece for me not to. :D

GOOD WORK GRUFF!
Count on you to think it though and post up a prepaint for us to visualize on!
Super!

I got Vas hittin' the house Tuesday the 19th, (Jaws the 20th, :chew ) and Hicks on the 21st! SO, I will be one happy receiver of shipped items come Friday! I 'm here to tell ya! So, I can finally see what the HT Aliens fuss is all about here. And just so you know, that HT Ripley is ordered and when she hits house, she's fixed up! PRONTO!
No worries!

Thanks again Gruff.
(BTW, love that sig banner!)

You know mine is heading your way when your schedule permits, Les! :D This is my favorite Film Heroine, wouldn't have it any other way!

This is more sloppy Photoshop work, and we'll have to see what the figure is like when it's in hand. I'm beginning to wonder if her eyelids will need a little help from Aves Apoxie Sculpt...but anyway I realized that another thing getting in the way of the likeness was the half-crescent shape of her irises. Part of what gives Sigouorney Weaver the "eyes-like-dark-buttons" look is that her lids even when relaxed don't cover much iris. And what little is covered is at the bottom. Nothing sleepy or hidden in her gaze.

At left, the original Hot Toys prototype. Center, my fix of the release photo on the Sideshow site. Right, what I think is a fairly normal expression for her -- alert, smart. Notice the size and placement of her irises. The upper eyelid just barely breaks the edge of the iris.

Her face is amazingly symmetrical.

I really think the first photo is a fair approximation of Ripley. Its not spot-on, but looks good enough. The new paint apps, probably intended to bypass likeness rights hurt what appears to be a decent sculpt.

Although, Hicks ended-up looking 10X better in person, so this might be pretty good in hand.

I fully agree. Ripley is a good sculpt, all it needs is a good repaint to bring out the character that's already present there.
