So, is the PL up for pre-order anywhere else?

Nope, none that I've seen and there's a reason for that... the manufacturer has not set the wholesale price yet as we now know.

OOPS! :D
I guess I am the standing BBTS experimental sacrifice then? :lol
I'll stick to my preorder there for now. Why not.
I'll let you know if/when I get an email about it. Should prove interesting.

Does anyone have pics of the McFarlane 12" Alien next to a Hot Toys one? I want to see size differences.

Thanks!

Here ya go!

I'm not sure anyone else has mentioned it here, but I got the 5 day processing notice for the Brown Alien. Not too long now until I'll have my first Hot Toys Alien! :D

awesome, thanks abake!! in your opinion, is the hot toys alien miles ahead of the McF one?

Well, it's hard to compare... after all, the McF figure was 25 bucks.
It's funny, but the McF alien has more articulation points than the HT one, but they're not very well placed, so they don't help much.
Let me put it this way: it's an excellent figure, and for 25 dollars it's a steal! Even for 30-40 bucks it's a good price.

Another problem I have is that the joints in the legs are extremely lose. The thing keeps toppling over. But I agree, it's an amazing value.

Just wanted to share some pics of the McF prototype from Movie Maniacs 5:

I'm sure all you Alien afficianados are aware of this but I'm just throwing it out there for all...

In "ALIENS", Domed Warriors were prepared and ready to shoot but James Cameron felt they would crack too easily on film in battle scenes so he asked the creature Design team to remove them.

One other interesting note: during "ALIENS" no-one could find drawings or prop models of the original derelict ship so they had to ask Bob Burns if they could borrow his as it was the only known model used in "ALIEN" and Bob gladly obliged, it wasn't in very good shape so they restored it for filming.

Also, there were no blueprints of the Narcissus, so James Cameron had the art department go over the original film frame by frame to try and reconstruct the interior of the ship as faithfully as possible.

that's true. I guess I'm trying to know if the hot toys figures are really worth the value. i'm getting the Aliens figure anyway, but 35 bucks to 130$ is a huge difference. is it really worth the price difference?

Well, once you have the figure in hand and you feel just how cool it is, all thoughts of price disappear... :lol
Now, if only McF had stayed with the original prototype sculpt... To me it's still one of the most beautiful and accurate renditions of Giger's original.
I was so sorry to see it changed.
The pred was a lot better as well.
I wish Tankman, the sculptor of the original prototype could work again on a figure of the alien, his work was just superb!

The AVP alien warrior is, by far, the best 1/6 figure I own. It's amazingly good.
