I agree.. The 1/5 Dog running pose looks great. I had it on pre~order but cancelled b/c I already have the huge 1/3 SS Dog and don't need another one at the moment. I might change my mind and pick it up later on though. After in hand pics and a decent price drop.

Also canceled my dog alien :( ...

The dios? I like them too, but only kept the Alien and Alien3 releases, and sold off the others including the Queen.

Still got all the alien dio's  , loved every single one of them. but I didnt manage to pick up the queen or loader. still praying  out that one day I will pick up the queen, I have too ... she is the queen :wink1:

I hear yah. I've been busting my butt at work this past month tryin to make some extra OT money just to pay for all these new pieces coming out, lol. So many great things, so lil money. I actually did the opposite of what you're doing. I cancelled the smaller Alien statues to get the bigger statues. The only things I have on order now are the SS Big Chap, Sano Alien, a few Cobra 1/6 figures and misc. Harley Quinn things.

Same here ... had a few of the new SS alien statues on order but cancelled them now, after I saw the sano one and saw the hefty price tag (esp in my currency) but that sano piece won my heart from the moment i saw it :love so def getting it. so unfort the SS alien statues will have to go on hold for awhile now, likely they are all still in-stock on SS website and i got a pretty good feeling that they will be around for quite awhile.

Sano>>>>>>>>Big Chap

But both if you can! :lecture

:goodpost:

I'm selling the Queen Alien dio in my For Sale thread.

Thanks Sabres ... I was actually reading your sale thread this wkend. if you have the dio in the future still I would def be interested but it would have to be a decision between that queen and this guy - alien by Oyama ...

Always loved this piece in your collection, have you still got him? Sabres do you have pics of your displays at all?

Yep, still got the Oyama.

I don't have any pics of the collection all together as some of it is boxed up.

so is this piece a little bigger then 1/4 scale or is the CM a little smaller then 1/3? I just got the CM and it's 29in and his knees are only slightly bent. I never thought I would even like the CM, but seeing it in person, I know this piece won't compare in quality to it. I almost clicked the PO buton for this one.

From what I can see in person, they are about the same size. Sideshow's version is not as thin looking as the CM version. The look of Sideshow's dome is better then the CM.

Here's a 1/3 comparison shot by Japnaese collector Asaka. CM vs RW Sano(about the actual size)

wow, that picture really shows the small details of the CM sculpt that really make it "Giger style" compared to the smooth/clean look. I know the CM sculpt is based off the crackling screen suit, but it defn looks more like Giger's style compared to a smooth sculpt. So does that mean the SS and CM piece about 1/3 then? Do the prepainted Sano pieces have chrome teeth too?

Not sure what you mean by "Giger style" as everyone knows that they are all based on the same creature... Clearly, the art direction of the pieces are different(though the look of the CM's dome is obviously not there yet). Each to their own.

No idea what scale the Sideshow maquette is, but they are about the same size. No, Sano's pieces does not have chrome teeth. I'll have one with the chrome teeth though. :)

For me, it's THE style. :D

The CM piece for me looses a lot of the finer details in the head compared to the sano bust ... esp around the funny mouth the CM has doesn't look nature imo.

what do you mean? Just going by the picture below, I don't see anymore detail with the Sano head then the CM. Maybe your talking about because the Sano is a smoother sculpt? I think the biggest thing that the CM really captures that most other larger scale Alien statues don't is the grimy looking sculpt; it's how I would imagine a creature like this would look like in real life. All the smooth looking are sculpts less realistic imo.

I'm pretty sure I read this bit of info somewhere, maybe on the CM message boards and part of my conversation with CM, but in addition to the chrome teeth, Giger requested the "peeling skin" effect -- not the same as the crackling latex -- but the peeling skin that was indicative of the molting process of the alien lifecycle. I seem to remember that the early sculpt which included a Gigeresque base was smoother in texture...

Absolutely, my friend. As long as you like it, it's all good. :)

if he did really request it, that part of the sculpt defn sets it apart from most of the others. Obviously, some prefer the smooth look of a Alien sculpt, and some like the grimy/peeling look of it. Like Thx said, just preference. If the Sano FS piece was the same size as the CM, I would give it more thought as to which I like more, but I think we get more bang for your buck with the CM.

Yeah, he art directed that skin texture, and this was his idealized version statue of the Alien. Signature included, pretty cool item. I just could never get past the tap dancing myself, or the hefty Cinemaquette price tag. Plus it's a bit huge for my display space...

pics don't do it justice man. The SS version is just as tall, so I'm not sure if you have one of those on order. I wasn't too keen on the pose from what I saw in pics, but in person, it defn makes sense. With the signed piece, descent ES,and good QC, I think it's a great piece and this is coming from a person that has never loved Alien designs. I'm pretty sure you could easily get one for retail too. I hate to say this, but I'm sure the piece will skyrocket in value whenever Mr. Giger passes. Just look at all the Stan Winston collectibles.
