Don't be sad...look on the bright side...somebody's getting both ,,, and they'll post a bunch of pictures when they do =)

If anyone does please post pics of them together ... would love too see them together ... 2 of the best alien statues coming out at the moment

oh yeah and the dog alien statue  , love that piece also.

The Alien creature has to be one of the hardest ever movie monsters to pose for a statue, because the monster in the film is so gestational or static most of the time, either coiled up or in waiting somewhere. For that reason 'action' poses just look unnatural and plain wrong, including both the Cinemaquette and the new SS Big Chap. The creature in both of those sculpts is recognisable as being the design from the movie, but it doesn't look much either pose came from the movie. About the only Alien that's ever looked like it could have been posed directly from the movie (even though it wasn't) is the Marmit crouched-pose version, which is true to the creature's body language.

I'll be getting the SS Big Chap because the statue captures a certain (maybe exaggerated) creeping menace and will be very imposing in person like the CM. But as an Alien purist, I really like that Sano hasn't even tried to pose his statue but has just replicated the museum display of the suit. It's an elegant solution to an enduring problem, and to these eyes is the best Alien statue yet.

:exactly: :goodpost:

I completey agree..except I think the Cinemaquette pose looks fine with him. I don't see many monsters doing that, and it GREATLY reminds me of the Parker tail slap scene. However, I prefer SS's paint on the statue..and the head sculpt. Wish people would learn to use milky domes though.

I'll be getting both the SS and Sano Big Chap. I'll post up some side by side pics when they both come in. Sano is shipping late Jan. and SS is shipping theirs sometime in March 2012, unless it gets delayed again.

Which "Dog" are you referring to? The 1/3 SS Dog or the 1/5 SS Dog?

The dios? I like them too, but only kept the Alien and Alien3 releases, and sold off the others including the Queen.

The 1/5 scale .... where it is running. really love the running pose. awesome way of depicting the dog ...

I agree.. The 1/5 Dog running pose looks great. I had it on pre~order but cancelled b/c I already have the huge 1/3 SS Dog and don't need another one at the moment. I might change my mind and pick it up later on though. After in hand pics and a decent price drop.

They're not 1/5 scale..they're a bit smaller than 1/6.

I do realize that these Alien pieces do look a bit on the smaller side. I just call them 1/5 b/c that's what it says on the SS website. Calling them anything other than that, without having the actual pieces in hand to verify actual scale would be :cuckoo: lol

Ah, I see.

They have them compared to apples in the pictures, and they're much too small to be 1/5 scale..I'd DEFINITELY buy all of them if they were 1/5, though.

Gonna try to pick up Bambi, and maybe Giger's.

Are you not interested in picking up this 1/4 Maquette or the Sano piece? I personally would save my money and hold off from buying any of the 1/5 scales and put it all towards the Maquette or Sano. Especially the Sano piece. I think that it'll be a lot easier to get the smaller scales later and for a better price as well but, that's just me.

I do have one in hand...the Alien: Resurrection piece...so I can verify that it is not 1:5.

It's definately smaller.

There's just no way I can get the Sano or Big Chap now.

I was planning on purching either SS's Big Chap, or their Mr. Black life-size bust, but as the days went on I decided it will have to be somthing P2 related for me to spend that much money on..or like a life size dog alien bust.

I've been spending a lot of money on some other interests lately as well, so I'm just going to have to stick to the smaller statues for now.

Cool. We can always count on Sabres to verify anything that is A L I E N related. Your collection is highly respected Bro :1-1:

I hear yah. I've been busting my butt at work this past month tryin to make some extra OT money just to pay for all these new pieces coming out, lol. So many great things, so lil money. I actually did the opposite of what you're doing. I cancelled the smaller Alien statues to get the bigger statues. The only things I have on order now are the SS Big Chap, Sano Alien, a few Cobra 1/6 figures and misc. Harley Quinn things.

Funny, earlier this year I cancelled my HT Tracker pre-order, and Pred LSB pre-order to help save for some of the bigger, more expensive stuff..

Everything has changed so much. :lol
