Here's some new, behind the scenes and concept artwork for the movie.

We get our first look at some of the Preds at the beginning of the movie, on the Pred ship.

BIG thanks to Vader1 and Heavy Metal Spike from The Hive for the pics.

Anyone else think this pic is from the scene from the beginning of the movie when the Predalien starts killing the Predator crew and one of them sends a distress signal(Above pic) before their ship crash-lands on Earth?

It's interesting how front heavy the face is this go round. Less upper head size and more FACE! Interesting. I really like the differences. New is always good.
There are so many possible Predator variations, both physically and color and detailwise, and yet they stay true to the original concept.

Aliens on the other hand, if they stray too far, the design suffers some.
To me that is.

Quick concept about the African-American casting thing...Predators remind me of Masai warriors, who were in their heyday, and still are, total badasses in a non-technological warrior/hunter cultural manner, and of course, there's the obvious dreds Carribbean thing, so it seems fitting that a black guy is just better as one.
Something about the subtle moves and stances. Hard to justify really, maybe I am just biased on KPH and that's all. But the African influences are definately there and I like that a lot.
There is a touch of Samurai about them also. Just a touch. And yes, the ancient Central American crossover look was a brilliant idea for AVP too. One of my favorite aspects to that movie.

Anyway, just food for thought. Interesting conversation anyway.

Interesting observations Les and I totally agree. The Wolf Predator seems to have very pronounced mandible features which certainly sets him a part from previous designs. Does anyone remember how awefull the Scar Predator looked when he revealed his face from benath the mask in AVP. . .I was appauled but it looks like ADI finally got to grips with sculpting an authentic looking Predator :rock

Kevin peter hall actchly put a lot of thought in to his preformance as the Predator, in fact he he studed Arfican dance and intergreated it in to his preformance.

Yep thats on the Extras disc on Predator. The final showdown with Arnold, when he takes off his mask and makes a wingspan with his arms that had the dance influence in it. Apparently that was abrupt and everyone loved it!

Apparently some of the folks over at AVPGalaxy's forums have reported seeing some flashes of the supposed 'Predator homeworld' on TV commercials for the film. One of the directors also confirmed it aswell.

Sounds pretty interesting. From what Ive heard over there, it's supposed to be desert-like with structures modeled after the interior of the mothership from Predator 2, which ties in pretty well with the first two movies, aswell as erases that crap Anderson put in his 'movie'(I prefer 'disaster').

That's right, Kevin Peter Hall was also trained in mime and did integrate African dance moves into his Predator performance.

Without a doubt, Hall was the best "behind-the-costume" actor of his time.

Ian Whyte (Scar from AvP, also doubled as the other Preds in certain scenes) plays Wolf. These shots must be of another Predator actor for the movie.

I hope he didnt play the Celtic Predator because that thing didnt seem Predator at all

He played all of them except in scenes where there was more than 1 in AVP.

And agreed. KPH was the best Predator, though I hope Whyte can follow well in his footsteps now that Anderson is out of the way.

Thats right, i remember the making of AVP they said that the other dudes in the Scar and Chopper suits were considerably smaller than the Celtic so in the 3 shots they stood them behind him so they seemed the same. They got Ian to play Scar when 1 Predator was left. I think the Celtic was the Leader Predator b4 he died

Yeah, I remembered that aswell. And yeah, Celtic was definitely the leader of the group, he was the one giving out all the orders. I think the Ancient Asia Edition Predator was leader of those three in the flashbacks too.

Whyte I believe has said that he studied Hall's performance from Predator 1 & 2.

Hopefully now with the less bulky suits of AvP, Whyte can really show if he can shine in AvP2 as the Predator.

Someone over at AVPGalaxy's forums managed to get brief picture of the Predator homeworld. Quality's not the best, but take a look for yourselves;
