Aliens from Hot Toys!!!

Well any Alien(s)/v.P news is music to my ears. But I'm confused with the rest of you. I knew something was amiss when it said Sideshow Exclusive -- niether of the two that we're all waiting for sould be exclusive. Then I saw what looked like a dome and then a shoulder that is clearly not Alien one or two...

Well... sorry for the premature post. I just saw that it said Aliens and got very excited. I'm still holding out hope that the picture is a different product... but that sadly doesn't seem to be the case

Maybe we're going to see good ole' Grid! The accesory could be the tail stump or the damaged dome.

Yeah, I'm baffled as well, but the design is clearly of the Alien Resurrection/AvP variety (they have only minor differences, like the hands, legs and overall color scheme -A:R borown, AvP black) and not the Alien/Aliens variety (again differences in hands, feet and most notable the lack of clear dome).
I hope this is a proto, but if SST are marketing it as an exclusive, I doubt it would be the actual Aliens design, it would be pretty silly of HT not to make such a figure available to everyone.
As I type this it dawns on me that this could actually mean that HT is not going to make an Aliens alien/warrior... why else would they allow this exclusive?

I heard in a commentary somewhere that the Alien in Resurrection and AVP are portrayed by the same identical suit, the only difference being the color.

I hope it's the Alien that had the net scaring from AVP. I'll buy either way, I always preferred the brown colored Aliens from Resurrection to any of the other versions.

I have to say...I love the SE Alien's mouth...great little snarl. If it comes with an egg or a facehugger extra (as Brant hinted), I'm so in.

...that isn't even a photo of something Sideshow will be selling. It's a photo of the 1/1 Alien Res. display that I made for ADI back in '97. I re-sculpted probably about a 1/3 of the figure out of Magic Sculpt, so I know it like the back of my hand.

New low Sideshow... At least try posting pics of the actual piece you'll be selling.

If the accessory could count as a character it's gotta be a facehugger or a chestburster, right? But I would love a claw scarred Celtic helmet. Assuming the Alien is the "grid" Alien that kills the Celtic.

First off, the pic would have to come from HT directly so that SST can put it up.
Second, I don't think it's the same picture...

The overall design is the same, but there's small differences. Most notably, the legs: the A:R aliens had "dog-legs" or "dino-legs" if you prefer. The tail was also slightly different, as well as some detailing on the arms.

Positive it's the same!

I looked at that thing every day for 3 years when I was going in to work. Even the wall behind it is the same (The walls from the Auriga sets).

Like I said, I re-sculpted a huge portion of it including most of the "face" and I know my own work. Not to mention the paint.

Believe me, SS or HT or whomever is misleading everyone on this one.

Looks like a different pic, but you're right, the "subject" seems to be the same.
Maybe ADI sent HT those pics as reference.
And, in turn, HT sent SST that picture.
Also, it doesn't even say it's a prototype or the actual figure.
Anyway, too bad it's not the Aliens creature, or even the Alien Res creature. I would've loved one of those. And the first alien, of course. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.
Hopefully we'll get an update soon to see what the "accesory/character" is.

When you post a pic of something and say it's a preview, I would think that the average person could assume they are looking at more or less what is coming and not something they'll never see in a million years. Any way you cut it, they're being misleading.

Besides, Sideshow's "previews" have generally always been of some version of the final piece (be it a proto or other) as far as I can remember. To go this far off base is pretty bad.

I would hope that this is HT's doing and not Sideshow's as you mentioned.
