I've seen that skull, but never realized it was a Space Jockey because of the bones that flare out. Huh.

What's with the Trike skull? That ship has been coming to Earth for 65 million years, or have they been hunting Hammond's dinos on Isla Sorna. Hey, look at that, I just incorporated Dinosaurs into the AVP universe. Now I want to see a T-Rex Alien.

Oh wait, they did that with the Queen in AVP. Hey, that explains her size then doesn't it. Cool. I like that queen way more now.

Here's a question: If an Alien has an exoskeleton, especially the Aliens versions, then why do the skull trophies, especially the one on the P2 ship, look white instead of whatever color the exoskeleton already is?

Because all these things are tongue-in-cheek, spur of the moment in-jokes that have zero thought put into them. P2, the Alien skull was put in as a joke. AVP, the directors thought it would be cool to put in all different kinds of skulls that fans would see on DVD pause and point out. Even though most don't make sense.

I agree with this guy.
Another reason for me to dislike the whole idea of AVP.

After my big old rebuttal I typed up, I stand corrected. I did have valid points based on what was said in those movies, but if it's in Giger's Alien, which I have but only looked at the pictures, then who's to argue.

I bow to your superior knowledge on this matter, Faken and Sabres. I think I will definitely read that book tonight. Very curious now. I'm actually not unhappy with the short life span idea. Kinda makes them even more interesting and goes along with the quick gestation and growth that is very clear in that movie.

LOL no worries Surfer... I sort of offer the general truth with little to no reference because I can't remember where it all comes from, but Sabres is a walking, talking Alien encyclopedia... pretty much ALL the source material I have seen about Alien in the last 5 years come from him.

That's actually one of the very first complaints about the entire Alien vs Predator concept... they don't have skulls lol!

Well actually you're not wrong. You're right, as far as movie canon. Sabres and Faken are also right but only as far as the original idea behind Alien. I read an interview with Dan O'Bannon where he discussed his original (and imo more creepy) idea of Aliens turning cocooned victims into eggs. That's where I first heard about that, and Sabres and Faken talked about it but the scene with Dallas cocooned was cut from the film. And since it was cut out, it opened up the opportunity for Cameron to create the source of the eggs: Alien Queen. So within movie canon, the Aliens DO have a much longer lifespan. Not short like was originally intended. So within movie canon the original Alien WAS hiding in the escape ship with Ripley. Not preparing to die.

So all you guys are right. It's just you guys are talking about 2 different things.

Personally I hope they ignore everything AVP1 and 2 have scared our minds with and stick to the genuine original story from the Quadrilogy.

Even the quadrilogy lost that genuine feeling. A3 was as far as I could get, but A4 lost me. I enjoy the movie for itself, but I have to pretend it isn't in the same universe as Alien. For me it was over when the original Ripley died to end the curse of the derelict's Alien infestation once and for all.

I love Wheddon on TV, but I'm not a fan of his screenplays. His style doesn't work as well there for me.

Agreed though, that Predator should probably stay out of it even though I would love to see somebody do it right. I want to see somebody Batman Begins AVP.

After a LONG night of drinking and watching Aliens, Pred 1&2, AVP, AVP:R, I have some questions.

1.Alien:How long is the gestation period of the chestburster. After Kane had one it seemed like a day or 2(to me anyway)but in AVP, and Requiem it looked like just a couple of hours.

2.AVP:R: There's a Triceratops skull on the Preds wall as he cleans a Alien skull. Tritops lived 65 million years ago, so how long do Preds live. Could it have been passed down from father to son or a Clan trophy??

3.Predator:How did Dutch survive the blast of the Pred bomb?? It's suppose to have a blast radius of 300 city blocks. He couldn't run that fast or far.

4.Predator: During the raid on the guerrilla base, Dutch kicks the door down and says "knock,knock" shoots him in the chest and flies out the window. Dutch has a M203 grenade launcher. It takes 7 revolutions for the grenade to explode. He would still be alive??

5.AVP:How did Chopper, Scar, Celtic get there names??

1. For Alien, it's about 24-48hrs. Just ignore everything about AVP or AVPR's take on aliens and predators, they didnt follow the same idea as Alien 1-4 and Predator 1-2.
2. I think the predators been around for quite a long time and those trophies are just passed down from generations to generations.
3. If that blast was what it looked like, a nuke, I'm pretty sure Dutch would had been caught in that blast and died. But in these movies, the good guys always win or survive, so he couldn't die.
4. Not sure.
5. Director just named them on their attributes, so there wont be confusion on whose who.

These are just my answers, so I might be wrong.

1. Retarded story telling at it's finest... just another error in AvP.

2. Maybe other galaxies still have Dinos on them? Also, much like the aliens in this ridiculous movie, Predators are raising dinos thousands of feet below the earth's crust to hunt them. Those earthquakes we feel? Those are from the Brachiosauruses hitting the ground.

I think that we're expected to believe Predators were around to hunt dinosaurs on earth 65 million years ago is a tad far fetched even within the bounds of this fictional sci-fi universe. I would choose to believe its more likely that the Predators collect and possibly trade in skulls. Thats it. They don't have to have personally killed the creature it came from.

Well the P2 Elder gave Harrigan his trophy with the Pistol so your idea is belivable. Kind of makes them like trading cards though and I would think the predators would want to keep the trophys they've killed out of pride and not have a collection of other predators prey.
Hm.. I think I would rather want to belive they were around hunting dinos really.

65 million years of evolution - biological, cultural & technological and they're still hunting away on earth in the present day? Seems doubtful to me. And if they were around that long why not just permanently settle on the planet?
