So......... will we all get an unpainted-, unbuilt-kit, or would they be painted etc?
Would getting a completed version be optional? What about the decals? What will be included in the set? Can I get an AMEN?

So many questions left unanswered.

I will defer to pjam on this, but my understanding is that the sentry guns will be in kit form, meaning unpainted and unbuilt. They will include decals, and most likely have assembly and painting instructions, too (I will do my best to see that they are included). Of course, this is pending approval of Sentry 1 and everyone else involved in the project, and may be subject to change. That's about as much as I know at the moment.

Suggestions such as being able to get completed kits may be something to be discussed later on, but again, I'd wait to hear what pjam has to say about it first. Hope this helped some. :D

You will get a complete set of kit parts. I will try to get them cast with appropriate colors. Decals to be provided by Dboz. Stay tuned for further details and "how to's" here. Basically this is a garage kit project.

Just wanted to update you guys on the project. Mudshark is working with Angie and providing mech drawings. Angie, of course, must approve them but it is a lot of work to do them correctly and accurately so I wanted on behalf of all of us to thank Mudshark, Stendec, Dboz and of course our beloved uber talented Angie.

It looks like we will be able to launch this project in January so I wanted to also thank all of you for hanging in there and to wish you all a very safe and Happy Holiday Season.

Best
Paul

Thanks for the update Paul. I haven't been around a lot lately, but I'm still here. Been busy with a new job and a state to state move. I am looking forward to getting back to work on this project, though, as soon as i can get my main computer set back up.

Yeah, thanks for the update Paul. I'm excited to be getting at least one of these great guns someday soon! :D

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of the "Sideshow Freaks" out there! :D

Mad props to you for all of your work on this!

Also, I decided I definitely want two.

Also, I wonder how possible it would be to build a small servo motor into these during assembly so they can move on their own?

I've been thinking along similar lines myself. It would be nice if we could at least have a certain amount of customize-ability (is that a word?) built in, so that anyone who wanted to add more features to it could do so. I think the idea of asking Hurricane about building some kind of strobe light unit into the muzzle to simulate muzzle flash has been mentioned before. That would definitely be a cool feature as well.

I know Angie mentioned building some articulation into the gun mount, at least so it can elevate, depress and swivel, though exactly how much and how she will achieve that is unknown to me at the moment. I think that is something I will most likely be discussing with her in the near future. If she hasn't already read your post, I'll mention your idea to her and see what she thinks. :D

So... what's the status?

I thought this project would be done by mid Nov. and that we would all be sporting our Exclusive Sideshow-Freaks Sentry Guns by now.
Any updates? Has sculpting begun?

(FB, Mooncat) Please read last update posted 12/21 on the previous page. :D Also did you miss all previous updates? FB, I see you were up to speed on the project so what's up with this post?

Come on Dude, Angie was sick for weeks and Mudshark moved, so there were delays and that was all posted here. That kind of thing doesn't seem fair to them or me. Just the way I see it. Patience WILL be rewarded here.

Anyway, Angie and Mudshark are getting up to speed on Mech drawings. They are now back on this and I hope to have another update soon.

Apologies havent read everything on this thread

this threads is now 353 posts long and I tend, given the time this projects been going on, to look in on this only from time to time and tbh

and last time I looked in I saw that someone was looking for an update

as was I

Ive mentioned it before but given the length of time this projects been going on, Id have thought a fresh thread with an update might help as Ive got my settings to 40 posts a page and this threads up to 9 pages

I tend to look at the first post in a thread for the relevent info and then read the comments Im guessing those that do only look in from time to time

might like myself not skim back 20 posts of "Thx for the update" to find "the update"

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

This Project has been Dedicated to the Memory of

Chris Chulamanis

Chris passed way from a massive heart attack and complications from pneumonia last week as many of you now know. Without the efforts, support and passion Chris provided us, there would be no Sentry Gun Project.

Chris and I worked together to get this started. Chris brought us Angie Portman and Chris as you know was intimately involved with us to make this a reality in the early stages. Chris also provided us with a casting quote and had to suddenly drop out due to, at that time, unknown circumstances. His original quote is still posted on this thread and he has and always will be a part of this.

Those who knew Chris loved him and his endless passion for all things Aliens. Chris Pioneered Aliens figures, armor, weaponry and accessories through his now Legendary EVA Models. He even built a 1/6 RC scale APC which stunned the Modeling world with it's accuracy and amazing detail.

Chris made this project happen for us. And for that we Dedicate this to him.

Chris, we will always miss you Brother.

I was very fortunate to correspond with Chris in e-mails for the last year or two. He was an incredible person and I regret not having the chance to meet him in person. I bought some of his great USCM gear, and will always cherish it! My marines now wear some of his great work! The Pvt. Hudson in my signature image will soon have the "winged skull" bolo tie and Gerber boot knife that Chris made for me. I already have the "belt tool" Chris made on Hudson's belt now. We were working together on trying to make a custom leather shotgun sheath/holster for my custom Hicks I made from a Hot Toys Hudson before his heart attack.

I hole-heartedly agree that this sentry gun project should be dedicated to Chris. I really think without his incredible pioneering work in the 1:6 scale for the ALIENS marines and gear, we would not have the great stuff we're getting from Hot Toys now.

He has definitely inspired me, and countless other fans of ALIENS and other films and T.V. shows to just "dive in" and do custom work on their own.

Rest In Peace Chris.

Waiting on Mech Drawings update Guys...

Mudshark is working on them for us as we speak. :D

Hang in there!

Pjam was not far from the truth with that last comment! If I were not directly involved with the project and was only waiting like the rest of you for this thing to happen, the only update I'd really be interested in hearing would be, "Hey everybody, the drawings are done!". I can't tell you all how much I am looking forward to that announcement, and I'm sorry to say that it won't be today! This has been a very time consuming and tedious WIP and is going much slower than I had anticipated at the outset, but what I've got so far is looking good. I've studied this weapon so much that I even dream about it, I **** you not. I could sketch it from any angle blindfolded. Well, almost. Anyway, this is an experience I will most definitely never forget!

Here's a progress report, in brief. I received initial specs from Sentry 1 that had to be converted to 1/6 scale first. Then I needed to establish certain key measurements from which the various views (overhead, right & left sides, etc.) of the gun and its components would be drawn. Those needed to be checked for accuracy. The specs I received were not complete, so there have been quite a few blanks that needed to be filled in, using photos and screen grabs for reference. Having the key measurements established has made that somewhat easier. There have been a few problems that needed to be worked out, but so far everything is checking out and there have been no major setbacks... other than not having enough time to devote to getting these finished!!!

I'd been thinking about Chris and what his reaction might be when we finally completed this project. I'm so sorry that he won't be able to see it for himself now. I very much want this unique piece of the Aliens legacy to be one that Chris would not only have thought was just "pretty cool", but one that he would've absolutely needed to add to the weapons hold of his legendary 1/6 scale scratch-built USCM APC model!!! So to that end, please hang in there for as long as it takes me to post that long awaited final update. I'm honored to be able to do this for us, and deeply grateful for everyone's continued patience. :bow

Thanks for your update Mudshark! I'm very excited to be a part of the lucky ones on this board to be getting one of these special pieces for my collection! I look forward to the day when I do get it. Thanks again for your hard work and devotion. I was lucky to talk to Chris in e-mails. I know he'd be very proud. :D

Thanks Mudshark. Excellent update and thank you SO much Bro.

Once we get past this, this project will be rolling. :D
