YoNoSe,
They match up really well considering the differences in size in robot mode.

When FT do their Grimlock it's going to make for an intresting comparison.

soundwave,
Nice pics of Silverstreak, he's awesome! :clap

can't wait for FT Grimlock...the MP Grimlock just doesn't match up in scale against Slag (Smaller head,Smaller body) those foot lifts just don't cut it

I haven't bought a Transformer in quite a while, but I picked up Leader Class Grimlock from Age of Extinction - simply because I'm a sucker for chrome I think. :p

Now I'm far from a fan of the design of Grimlock from AoE but damn if your photography doesn't make him look pretty sweet.
Those are some fine pictures man & he looks awesome in them

Well done :)

Yup, he's just too... wimpy looking proportionally now, the height added just makes him look taller and thinner relative to his height. Too bad they know they can re release the mold and it'll sell out repeatedly, Tamara has zero reason to update. Can't wait to see FT hit him out of the park.

TT introduced the newly scaled OP right after a third (fourth?) reissue of the original MP01.

Who knows.

Of course it doesn't match up, MP08 was designed long before Shogo Hasui took over the Masterpiece line and made robot modes that scaled consistently with the cartoon scale chart a priority.

Hironori Kobayashi did his own thing, as can also be seen with Ultra Magnus which seems to have thrown Hasui's scaling out the window and does not look as clean a design in robot mode as any of Hasui's work or the Star Saber figure which is from a 3rd designer who's name I can't remember.

MP08 was also designed before 3rd parties really got going so the only other Masterpiece Dinobots would have been official ones.

So bashing it now just because other company has come along and are making Masterpiece Dinobots that adhere to the newer approach to scaling that started with MP10 seems a bit silly.

The shoes fix the height but that's all they were ever going to do, did you expect them to magically add bulk to the torso, arms and thighs as well?

No kidding Sherlock

Where was I bashing MP-08?? :dunno I was just saying I can't wait to get Fans Toy's Grimlock because the MP-08 doesn't look right next to FT Slag in scale.MP-08 is a great figure too but he doesn't cut it when standing up against FT Slag,Swoop,Snarl,Sludge....that's all I was saying :lol

So... now we argue when we all agree on something as well... I can see this thread is going to be like a Dark Knight thread eventually. :monkey4

If that happens before MP Megs, then I'm gonna throw something at something else.

Money at Takara?

But anyway, Lockdown really won me over in the movie and I'm so upset they're not doing anymore Human Alliance figures. That'll be the only way to justify his figure as I don't believe that the current figure falls under the "pics =/= justice" category:lol

Are they doing any nice figs for the movie? The only things I've seen look like they're designed for really young kids.

Honestly, I haven't seen any that wow me yet. They all look like children's bubble bath dispensers. I've looked at pics and watched reviews but the whole "nicer in person" motto is just overused so much, I refuse to believe anyone anymore:lol

Is anyone here getting the Ultimetal Optimus Prime?

I really want it and can't wait for it to be released even at $950. I just need to see a review before i order in case of QC problems but it keeps getting delayed ..

Thanks for the video of Kronos Teemu. It looks great in robot mode, except for the waist swivel cutting through the cockpit canopy. Jet mode looks awful though, especially from below. I really don't like the transformation either; popping bits off and storing them in the backpack etc. I get that the backpack needs to come off and reattach like it did with the original G1 Jetfire, but the way the upper body transforms with snapping the back off and on again is just lazy engineering imo, especially for a modern figure. I can understand having to add things on the old G1 figures like Prime's hands or the Seeker hands as that was the limit of the engineering at the time, but these days it's very rare to see stuff like that. The whole point of a transformer for me is that it transforms as one piece. Could it not have been on a hinge so that flips up to opened the back up and release the arms and then flip back down? And is all that die cast really necessary? Yea really not keen on Kronos at all after seeing the vid.
