Best Partsformer ever.

Don't get me wrong, teemu. It's not bad. But the transformation engineering.... Well, there's none. Not bad looking, but I'll wait for a better attempt by another company, if ever. If not, I'm fine too.

Was never a huge fan of him anyway.

Is anyone here getting the Ultimetal Optimus Prime?

I really want it and can't wait for it to be released even at $950. I just need to see a review before i order in case of QC problems but it keeps getting delayed ..

I am about 90% sure I will. Got the funds aside and all, and I happen to be in the same boat as you. I NEED to see some sort of review(s) to make up my mind completely. It's too big of a gamble....

Are they doing any nice figs for the movie? The only things I've seen look like they're designed for really young kids.

Voyager "Evasion Mode" Optimus is very cool. He's a total shellformer but the way he does it is so clever it doesn't feel like a cheat. Also he's a nice standalone oddity, a G1 cab that turns into movie Prime. Something neat about it without feeling obligated to get more movie toys to keep him company.

I agree that the evasion prime is a decent figure by the looks of it, but like most movie and non-MP TF lines, there is one decent figure and the rest is crap. Just my opinion.

Yeah, he looks like the diamond in the rough. I am not really a movie collector but I do read about and watch reviews of the toys. I haven't seen anything else from the movie line that looks interesting. I think in general the hyper-detail of the movie designs just doesn't translate well to toys. At least not to those of us who grew up with previous incarnations of the brand.

So...finally got my Scoria and it's left me a bit cold. Thought it'd wow me in hand but I'm underwhelmed by the robot mode and mine has floppy joints sadly.
It makes up for it in Dino mode though and that's how it'll stay in fairness.
Doesn't look too shabby at all with Grimlock in his boots; which in itself isn't too bad.

I hope Snarl will have a better Robot mode....

I agree, the transformation is lacking....beautiful in Robot mode though

Seems there is alot of QC issues with Scoria....mine is pretty good, fairly tight joints....floppy legs like Grimlock (due to the weight). My issue I had was the pegging the tab on the legs.Tabbing it together and then getting it apart

If your Scoria has loose shoulders or a loose dino jaw there are fixes for both.

There's been a couple of step by step guides at TFW from people who've done it so it could be worth a look.

I actually don't have an issue with tabbing the bits together, with a bit of force everything sits nice and tight and I wasn't at any point worried I'd snap something.

Cheers mate, I'll have to have a look, the forearms are really floppy.
I hope reprolables make a set for scoria, I think a couple of well placed ones on the Dino head and maybe arms are needed. I still feel the gold plated look takes away from the detail of the head. Nice fat Autobot symbol should break up the large block of gold.
Overall a solid piece I reckon, quite excited for Swoop but as I say; I really hope they up the design work on Snarl.

The fixes are in the Scoria thread at TFW. You will probably have to sift through a few pages of people whinging and trying to make the QC issues into something worse than they actually are, but that's par for the course with that place :lol

Everything tabs together fine on mine, it's just one of those TF's where everything has to be just right. It took me about 5 minutes of jiggling other pieces before there was a satisfying CLICK! and everything went in.

I'm torn on whether to put an Autobot logo on the dino head as I like how it looks as it is but I'll put one in the relevant spot on the robot mode, I don't really like putting other stickers on Masterpieces but that's just an individual choice.

In terms of how the transformation works and the aesthetic of both modes I'm more than happy with how Scoria has turned out. It's a lot more complex than Quakewave and has a lot more paint apps so it's easy to see why the QC issues have occurred as there was more potential areas for things to go wrong.

The tightness of the joints on the future releases is something that will have to be looked at and the weight distribution round the hips may need some rethinking as well but I'm still hugely looking forward to the rest of their Dinobots.

Agreed...
Well I found a big fat Autobot sticker in one of my cupboards... What do you think? Overkill? Also bonus points for identifying the book! Haha

I think I'm happy with it, it definitely makes it Slag to me now.

They'll likely fix those for the re-release.

That's one good thing about FT. They do take feedback on board and have a decent level of customer service. Many 3rd parties stop giving a crap once they've got the initial sale.

Wanderer,
Looks good!

That's Fergie's book :lol

Thanks Corsair :D
And yeah it is!.....still not even opened it yet but I've now discovered it's a good TF display base though! :p

I'm waiting for the updated edition where he describes going on a 24 hour whisky binge before deciding that Moyes was his "chosen one" :wink1:

I checked it out, there's some phenomenal repaints being done with this. I'll have to look at it a bit closer today when I'm out. I'll be honest, something about the new packaging makes all of the movie stuff blend together. :lol

I'm glad someone else is as excited about that as me!
