I don't have a problem with the fake wheels on Magnus. I don't have it in hand yet but it seems that the real wheels have to fold away to give stability- it would rest on the real wheels in robot mode as it does in vehicle mode which would stop the foot sitting flat on the floor when standing in robot mode and cause stability issues. It would be like Magnus on roller skates. You'll notice that the fake wheels are flush with the bottom of the foot so there's no problem with stability any more.

If stability was the concern then why didn't they just do something to raise the assembly with the actual wheels on so they didn't touch the ground?

That would have made more sense than hiding them just to have some crappy looking fake ones in their place.

koolkollectibleskhai,
I wasn't disputing that the wheels were present in the cartoon. I know they were there....when the animators could be bothered to draw them in.

But the reason they looked small and crappy was due to lazy artwork, they were obviously meant to be proper sized.

Adding the fake ones just for the sake of an extra bit of accuracy that few people will care about to me seems a waste of time. If there'd been less time spent on that and more on the back kibble the overall design might have looked a lot cleaner.

I dug out the '86 movie last week and watched it for the first time in years. I thought it was somewhat short of the untouchable work of brilliance that much of the fandom seems to hold it up as.

It's largely awful and shouldn't be the only thing Takara use for reference but it seems like Kobayashi's approach is to adhere to inconsistently drawn animation models to such a degree that the end result looks far less impressive than it really should.

That would have been the ideal solution I agree. They just needed to lower the rest of the foot or push the wheels upwards so they were off the floor.

I received Badcube Brawny on Christmas Eve. Not had chance to put an autobot insignia on him yet but I'm pretty impressed with what they have done and I really like Huff. Looking forward to proto pics of warpath.

Is Rodimus a tough get to haul? Pricing on that is good in 2nd market? I would liek to get one... for those that have rodimus, how is it in scale with mp-10 and the cars that followed after? And with Magnus? I may jump on one.

Brawny is one of my favorite figures of the year. It's not quite as good as Huff but is still up there with the best official Masterpieces and it's awesome to have a toy of one of the strongest Autobots that can actually lift bigger bots above his head....I've done it with MP11 and MP13.

BadCube must have spent some time getting the balancing right in order to pull that off and the images they did of him lifting MP10's cab and then the trailer were probably the best promotional images for a 3rd party figure so far.

I've read some complaints that the proportions look off compared to the cartoon but I couldn't care less. I love the squat look of his robot mode as it gives him the appearance of a power lifter which is perfect for the character....the cartoon should be used as a guideline not a cast iron rulebook that should be obeyed at all times.

I was also hugely suprised by how good the realistic alt mode looked. I still have question marks over how good Cliffjumper and Gears would look with realistic alt modes but I've become a bit more convinced that they could work too.

I also got Backland which takes a lot of cues from Takara's Nissans with the amount of retooling and the only issue I've had with him was the breakage on the Decepticon detector due to the joints being too tight but they're sending out replacements to dealers and Kapow Toys have got me covered.

Some have said that there's no need for a Warpath due to the Generations figure but as nice as that is, it's too reimagined for a Masterpiece display, particularly the tank mode. I'm itching to see the first prototype.

Version 2 is the one you want to get, and unfortunately, he is not cheap. Well, he was never cheap to begin with but expect to pay $300 + for a complete one (V2, with box and everything) There's some Roddys on ebay that are loose (all weapons included, no box, bio card or the kickass instruction sheet) and they are V2. They are close to $200 and if you really want one, I'd say go for that. I can vouch for their quality, and it makes me believe that at some point this guy was going to be reissued but at the end they just didn't.

The scale is just fine, he's SLIGHTLY taller than MP10 in RODIMUS mode, and that is ok IMO. Based on pics, Magnus towers him (as well as everybody else) but if you take some parts of the cartoon as reference, I believe Magnus size is just right. Some disagree, but at the end is what we got, and I'm more than ok with that.

In Hot Rod mode he seems to scale well with MP-01 from what I have seen. So if you have MP-01 and MP-10 in both modes he works well.

I think anything before MP10 is becoming increasingly obsolete.

MP01 mold = Robot mode still looks better than MP10 but it's too big and a bit clunky because of the diecast torso.

Original Seeker mold = Scale still works but the MP11 mold removes the hip kibble and has a nicer headsculpt.

MP05 = A great achievement considering the 12 day development cycle but it's too big and too ugly in robot mode.

MP08 = Dinosaur mode still works for now but the robot mode looks increasingly poor next to what we've seen from Fans Toys and ( if their build quality doesn't suck), Giga Power. Mine will be history once Fans Toys reveal theirs.

MP09 = Crappy QC, overly fiddly transformation and Hot Rod mode is too big. Rodimus mode works in terms of scale and the vehicle mode looks nice but the robot mode has the same blandness as Magnus because it's too slavish in recreating the look of badly detailed 80's animation.

Looks like Transbridge will be getting their stock of Skywarp in a couple of weeks.

Between that, FT Soar and HT Star-Lord I'll be having an awesome, but expensive start to 2015.

Yeah. I've been holding on buying FT's Dinos for now. As nice as they are, I think Giga's are the ones I should wait for. If reviews suck, then FT's it is. It's just the scale that bothers me a bit, I think they should be bigger. But oh well.

Is MP11SW basically $200 USD everywhere? Anybody selling it cheaper?

If Giga Power's build quality doesn't suck then it'll give collectors 2 great options for Masterpiece style Dinobots.

No idea on Skywarp, mine's costing £140 which is about $218 at the current exchange rate. Not an ideal price for a repaint but the money I saved by dropping my MP22 pre-order will pay off the rest of what I owe so it'll work out OK.

Well, I read somewhere that the 1986 Movie was going to originally feature a Diaclone color Magnus instead, but that was scratched.

I'm so getting the Diaclone if they make it (which I'm 150% sure of).
