It's the Ultimetal OP.

Most TF fans hate it though. Don't understand why.

I think the main reason why a lot of Transformers fans dislike it is that it basically looks like MP10, costs around $1000 and doesn't transform. For a lot of them (myself included) MP10 is the end all be all of Optimus Prime figures.

That being said I think a lot of fans hardcore ragging on Ultimetal Prime do not understand who the target market for this figure is. This isn't necessarily meant for the guy with 1000+ Transformers he picked up over the years at TRU to fiddle with, it's intended for someone who wants a high end display piece instead of a toy.

That GIF perfectly illustrates that what the scale chart intended and what actually ended up on the screen were often quite different :lol

I would hope that anyone attempting Masterpiece Constructicons sticks to the scale chart.

Whyee,
Characters I would definitely buy,

Sunstreaker
Hound
Mirage
Jazz
Cliffjumper
Windcharger
Gears

MP11 Thundercracker ( Takara release )
Constructicons
Astrotrain

Subject to quality I would also consider,
Omega Supreme
Blaster & tapes
Skyfire
Blitzwing

I don't believe the majority of those will happen officially so I'll wait and see what the best 3rd party options are.

I take it you've now had a rethink about quitting transformers collecting? 😂
Going off topic; you and I used to argue about United and whether they were on the slide...look at us now... Lol

Yah, didnt this thread get lighter in the last few days, a lot more less argumentative and very cool? Now all of the sudden... ?

Well, I can't wait to hear "rumors" and "speculation" 'cause it usually means it's likely and we all don't need those people that complaint about "rumors" getting all crazy about potential releases w/ their negative Nancy rebuttals. Give me: Megatron ver. 2, Mirage, Ironhide, Ratchet, Jazz, Hound... and I'm done.

I realize MP-09 would fit in well in Rodimus Prime mode, but he'll always be hot rod to me so I'll pass unless I find one dirt cheap :).

Not a bad Windcharger. Alt toy head is a nice addition. I wouldn't be shocked if we never got an official MP version.

I'm gradually getting used to seeing Minibots with realistic alt modes as opposed to Chibified ones and with Windcharger it helps that the Trans Am is the same model as KITT from Knight Rider. If XTB want to get another use out of the mold they should do a black one and call it Hoff.

Oh wow I Really like both of them.

I love that the 3p's are tackling the minibots as it still seems unlikely to me that we will get them from Takara.
I think 'Bee was the exception rather than the rule...he was too iconic to the series for Takara to not have in their line up...the rest IMO are far less important to them so will probably just sit back on them & focus elsewhere, which is exactly why the 3p's will be my go too's

So just trying to put together a list of the 3p minibots that are worth owning & I was just trying to remember if we'd seen a good version of Gears yet?

I seem to remember seeing a couple a while back but for the life of me can't remember who made them or what they were called.

Did anyone get them & are they much cop?

There was the iGear one ( Cogz ) a while back but that was before 3rd parties really got into the Masterpiece thing and the Chibi style feels like a step backwards compared to what we've seen from Badcube, XTransbots and the one official Minibot.

I owned it and the Swerve repaint ( Veer ) very briefly and apart from the colors being off the figures were OK but I resold them as the aesthetic wasn't right for where my collection was going.

Another company called SXS made one that was an attempt at updating the G1 design but it was bloody awful and didn't even work with Classics, let alone Masterpieces.

Gears is somewhat tricky as his alt mode has no real world counterpart, most of the other series 1 Minibots were based on either a real vehicle ( Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Windcharger ) or had enough recognisable elements of real world vehicles ( Brawn ) that it was easy to come up with one.

I think a similar approach to what Badcube did with Huffer is the way to go ie stay close to the original design but add enough real world detail so that it works OK with the other MP Minibots.

Can't say I'm a huge fan of those XTB minibots - I'll wait and see who else puts stuff out. Really love Badcubes Huffer/Outback/Brawn.

How is Brawn in hand? An ebay seller wants $80 for him, which seems kind of high....

Is he good quality? He looks great, but I know nothing about that company...,

Just check it out on Youtube. Benscollectables has reviews on both. I bought both figures from TF Source at around $80 each.
