Plenty of people have had good ones, myself included, it's just that they choose to spend time enjoying the figure instead of looking for some trivial little thing to whine about on a forum.

Like always there'll have been a few with legit issues such as karamazov80's, the rest are either nitpickers with unrealistic expectations, scaremongers who blow everything out of proportion or people who mishandled the toy and are looking for someone to blame for their own stupidity.

There will always be some kind of issue with a mass produced item, but most of the time it's so tiny that it doesn't affect the overall figure.

Apollyon is not perfect but it's not even close to being the disaster that some people in this thread and elsewhere are trying to suggest. To me it feels as sturdy as something like MP13 and several video reviewers have reported no major issues even after they've transformed it back & forth multiple times.

From what you've been saying it sounds like Megatron isn't that important a character to you and if that's the case fair enough, but don't let others put you off something else down the line because unless they're working in the factories where these things are made they don't know s**t about how it will turn out.

Megatron is an incredibly difficult Transformer to do right, Apollyon's designer said as much in the interview I posted in this thread a while back.

Nobody is making one in MP scale without a complex transformation which means a higher parts count than the average figure, it's physically impossible....even Hegemon was a pain in the butt to transform and that was smaller and meant for the Classics line.

Could somebody take Apollyon, tweak some of the tolerances and make it sturdier?

Perhaps, but there's no guarantee of that and unless you play with your TF's constantly which I'm assuming most adult collectors don't have time for the worst that'll happen is the arms popping off the ball joints.

Looking ahead characters like Windcharger are far easier in terms of complexity as the parts count will be much lower so there's less potential for stuff to go wrong.

DPrime,
All FT's figures so far have had issues of some kind, they just seem to be better than most at kicking their factory in the butt and getting them fixed.

Oh don't worry I know all too well about the old rule "Have a good experience you tell one person, have a bad experience you tell 10" & being the internet that gets multiplied by a million ;) lol

But I was thinking about this a bit more earlier while I was waiting for Chloe to fall asleep (She's been having a few nightmares lately & wants you in the room until she dozes off so I had time to think) & I definitely think you're right in that Megatron just doesn't feel that important to me & I think I know why
I never ever cared for the original toy.

I had it as a kid I remember it vividly BUT I never ever played with it, even back then I thought it was awful & nothing like the cartoon not to mention flimsy as it comes so I never used him, my Decepticons were led by Soundwave or a Seeker until Galvatron came along & that I think has gone on to my way of thinking now.

I definitely know the scaremongers are out there but I don't frequent any other site for TF news, I don't watch reviews I literally come here only so I'm basing my decision to avoid him because of issues based solely on opinions in this thread & as there are more that are less than impressed I'm more inclined to give it a miss instead of getting a sub standard figure & having to pratt about with returning it...better to be safe then sorry & if that means I go without him forever then so be it.

This however does not mean I'm avoiding future figures by them I WILL definitely be watching them to see how Windcharger, Cyclonus & Scourge turn out as I would be willing to get them if they come out well...again this will be after in hand opinions are in.

It's my birthday next month & everyone is doing the usual what do you want & in theory I could go for Apollyon as it won't be my money I'm spending on him but I'm actually leaning more towards them chipping in to get me Reflector, A Dinobot or even Sunstreaker before Megs lol

Colour shots for X-Transbots Scourge have appeared on TFS-Express website along with pre-order shizzle...

The SDCC Exclusive version of Devastator has been revealed and has some extremely cool packaging. In addition, he has a ton of additional paint applications and decals. Hard to spot them when he's in the box like this but here's what I noticed:

Purple or black crane on Hook
Black inner treads on Bonecrusher and Scavenger
Chrome accents on Scavenger's digger
Additional G1 decals on Scavenger's digger and side
Additional paint apps on the chest plate
Silver accents on forearms
Purple hands?
Yellow lights/stickers on Long Haul's grill
Additional G1 decals/paints on the...crotchal plate?
Purple inner legs on Long Haul
Additional paint accents on Scrapper behind the vehicle cabin
Metallic purple paint on Scrapper's hips
Metallic purple paint on Mixmaster's mixer (this is the one thing I'm not crazy about)

Not sure if there is much interest in this but prototype images for Unique Toys Buzzing (Blurr) have surfaced & I think he looks damn good

I always liked Blurr in the later seasons, he was a bit of light relief & the toy was a firm fave so I'll be watching him with interest
Wonder if we'll see a Kup & reworked Hot Rod to go with him?

Once we get past G1 and some of season 2...that is where I bail out collecting TF

those designs look good but I have no connection to the futuristic and Movie stuff

I would buy most of the early characters up to the point that the combiner teams appeared. Only combiner team I'd pick up is the Constructicons, mainly due to space restrictions. I'm a big fan of the movie so I'd get most of the characters from that, not too keen on other series 3 figures though.

Although I still picked up Star Saber even though I'd never heard of it! If a figure looks good enough I'll probably pick it up regardless of time period.

Some potentially cool changes, but nothing worth getting very excited about, considering the similarities between this and the regular version IMO.

If you're not feeling it because of bad memories of the original toy that's fair enough, I remember playing with mine in gun mode a lot but I never liked the robot mode as much.

Sorry to hear Chloe's been having nightmares, hope she can get over them soon!

With Apollyon I've not seen as many complaints from people who got it from TFS-Express so I think they either got a very good batch or us Brits are less prone to kicking up a storm if there's something wrong :lol

Fans Toys have said Sever and Tesla will both ship next month and the first Insecticon isn't looking too far off either so there's some great alternate options for spending your birthday money.

Kapow have also just got Badcube Wardog in stock so I'll let you know how that is once it's arrived and I've finished swearing my way through the transformation :lol

I really like the look of that Blurr's robot mode but the vehicle mode doesn't look that great at this stage. I'll still consider it if the color test shot looks suitably impressive.

In addition to Scourge XTransbots have shown the initial render for Cyclonus in robot mode and it's looking good although the designer has already said he'll be making some adjustments based on the initial feedback so it's going to be further improved before the first test shot is produced.

The problem I have with Scourge is avoiding the temptation to get 3 so I can have a couple of Sweeps.

Misterscruff,
I wouldn't say my Apollyon 100% perfect, there's a couple of small scratches on the left opening panel on his chest and a small paint blemish on the rear of the gun barrel but those issues are so small I'm not going to let them overshadow everything that's good about the figure....I've had worse issues on official figures.

I want the best-looking version of this set possible, so the fact that we now have at least one alternative superior option available has me very excited :D And I'm sure there's additional paint/sticker enhancements in the set that can't be seen from the front of the box like this.

Can't wait to see what Takara-Tomy does with the set - I imagine it'll more closely resemble this version than the Hasbro retail version if the 2013 Metroplex is any indication (both of which were superior upgrades to the U.S. retail edition):

Hasbro just posted an official photo reveal of their SDCC exclusive Devastator. I love it! Ok I'm not crazy about the shiny chestplate and mixer drum but all of the additional paint apps and decals more than make up for it. Love the chrome on the inside of the wheels, the black and yellow hash stickers all over the place, the black inside the treads of Scavenger and Bonecrusher, and the different head with eyes instead of a visor. It's either this version of the Takara version for me - whichever turns out best.

Mine had a couple of paint blemishes too; one to rear the barrel and another to the back of the head. A bit of silver paint from Games Workshop did the trick. Still need to sort a Decepticon insignia for him.

Looks like my Badcube Warpath may be delivered tomorrow. Hope the postie comes round before I have to go out!

All things transformers!!!!

Sweet! I will try to pickup Devastator at SDCC.

I actually prefer the standard Hasbro version...Not a fan of the shinyness of the SDCC version.

And I agree I actually really like that Devy
If I still had a G1 display I'd be buying that to add in to it but I don't

Definitely best Devy in my opinion

If things like that are round the back I tend not to worry as I'll hardly ever see them but it's good to know there's a possible option for fixing up the paint.

My Warpath arrived a short time ago, I haven't attempted transformation yet but the tank mode is awesome,

I see Hasbro are applying some polish to the turd that is Titan Class Devastator for this year's Comic Con.

Once they're all on ebay the asking price for European collectors will be even more ridiculous than the standard release.

I'm not crazy about the vac metal purple parts either, but the 50% increase in paint applications/decals elsewhere on the figures seals the deal for me (and in this image you can't even see the additional detailing on the arms, the black & yellow hashmark stickers all over the vehicles, the painted ladders, or the painted wheels and treads). Maybe Takara-Tomy will do all the extras but without the vac metal; a guy can dream.

As huge as these figures are, they're going to need all of the extra paint and decals they can get (U.S. retail versions pictured):
