My third Fans Toys figure after Tesla and Grenadier. The built quality is consistently high with Fans Toys that's for sure!
This reissue FT-03T darker version is perhaps a little too dark for my cartoon tastes. I should've stuck with the standard FT-03 that is more cartoon accurate, although for G1 toy fans, this darker colourway is perfect.

The forearm swap out was a little more delicate and fiddly than I would've liked. An appropriate screwdriver is a must to not strip the screws!

But after the swap and getting the hose in the proper orientation, Quakewave does look pretty fantastic.

With MP-29 Shockwave on the way though, I am having buyers remorse for picking up the reissue. If I had know MP-29 was on the way, I would not have preordered this reissue FT-03.

I guess it'll make for a nice comparison once the Takara version releases next year, because that thing looks frickin awesome!

FT-03T Quakewave does look pretty damn awesome. Will be a very interesting comparison once the official MP-29 Shockwave is released.

Pics already show for me that the MP will be superior in its G1 aesthetics, but build quality will be hard to beat! Fans Toys continues to impress!

Woah!

Ballsy move by FT!

Or they probably know something we don't. Maybe TT is releasing Galvatron soon, and they beat FT's HR reveal, as in, it was always planned.

Who knows really. But, from a business standpoint, I fail to see how HR makes any sense at all.

Wow unexpected to say the least.

I've already ordered & paid for my TT Hot Rod so that's me covered but I will entertain the option of selling him & getting FT's version if it turns out better in hand.

I am 100000000000000% in for The FT Galvatron though he looks freaking amazing & takes away all the worry about X-Transbots Build Quality...same with Scoruge & Cyclonus.

Really pleased to see FT tackling them.

Now as Karamazov has quite rightly said...DO MEGATRON PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:pray::pray:

Very disappointed to see FT going this route.

Deciding to do Hot Rod after MP28's announcement isn't ballsy, it's plain stupid.

It also directly contradicts what they've said in the past about not wanting to directly compete with any Takara figure.

No matter how lightweight the build quality of MP28 is compared to FT's or how mediocre it looks aesthetically, the majority of people will buy it just because it's the official, cheaper product.

As great as the robot mode renders look the alt mode on FT's Hot Rod also looks more like the toy than the cartoon so will inevitably be dismissed by those that insist that MP figures should look as close to the cartoon as possible.

FT won't have any trouble beating XTransbots build quality but their Galvatron doesn't look too great at this stage so maybe their Cyclonus & Scourge will also be below par by their usual standards.

Galvatron is also a character that's got a strong chance of being the next new Decepticon mold from Takara so the chance of the sales being affected by an official announcement seem high.

The '86 characters aren't going to be happening for a long time though as FT still have the following to get into production,

Snarl (Diaclone)
Snarl (G2)
Shrapnel
Kickback
Reflector
Hound
Sludge
Grimlock

FT Galvatron looks awesome. I'll wait to see all the reveals for those 3 but so far it looks like FT will be the way to go for Cyclonus and Scourge as well.

Here's my look at the new Fans Toys FT-03T reissue, this time in the darker purple colourway. Overall the build quality continues to impress from Fans Toys. I still think the Takara MP-29 Shockwave looks better, but doubtful they can beat FT on the build quality. Will be an interesting comparison that's for sure :)

To make things more difficult for me - I thought Xtransbots offerings of Cyclonus and Scourge can't be beat but after seeing Fanstoys offering of Galvatron, their versions of Scourge and Cyclonus may be top-notch as well. Decisions decisions. Fanstoys' version of Hot Rod looks great as well. I may have to put a hold on Takara's Hot Rod to make a final decision on which to get.

FT Reflector test shot review,

I think it looks good, but it'll be the first FT figure I pass on ( until the '86 characters ) as I prefer the Make Toys version.

The bit of artistic license Make Toys have taken with the bright green and added detailing on the chest panel really helps their figure pop whereas the FT one sticks to the flat green of the animation model and looks a bit bland.

I also don't like the partsforming weapons on the FT figure. It worked on the PerfectEffect Reflector as it was a much smaller figure intended for display with Classics figures but it looks lame on something that's meant to be a Masterpiece.

Kapow Toys posted a pic on their FB page showing lots of newly arrived boxes from MMC. Mirage and Impactor won't be long now :yess:
